I have one concern though, can't Youtube view counts quite easily be manipulated unfairly?

Tbf streams and downloads can also be manipulated unfairly

I'm actually beginning to think the removal of free streams may speed the chart up naturally. As I can imagine, and by what the OCC have said about not axing free streams completely, that its the younger demographic that make a large chunk of free streams whilst paid for is probably more fairly mixed. So certain artists I reckon may see a fall in their streaming.

Hopefully their next rule change will be axing ACR but I highly doubt they ever will.

Edit: Actually does anyone know if total sales will be calculated on a 1:100 basis for all formats and subscriptions?

I'm really happy with the chart change. Although music video downloads should have been included like 10 years ago or so. The chart should have more movement/be fresher as the most streamed videos usually differ from the most streamed tracks on Apple music/Spotify. With the 1:600 new streaming ratio for ad-funded free streams, that should lessen the impact of streaming on the chart and allow a little more influence from the sales chart? Unless there are a lot more people subscribed to streaming platforms than I thought.

P.S: We'll likely see songs make big jumps when their music videos are released as well. Or songs that release music videos from the get go will likely have higher debuts.

Apparently 'This Is America' would've been a top three hit if video streams counted, just heard on Newsbeat, it officially went to #6, so seemingly it will effect songs a lot even in the higher regions.
Also looks like 'German' by EO, which is apparently the number 1 on video streaming will shoot into the official top 10 on the week after Friday.

Where can you view the video streaming charts?

It says a lot about how dead my interest in the modern chart is that this news leaves me feeling nothing at all.

next week is gonna be so unpredictable

guess roughly we're gonna a similar overall number of streams?

but how many "sales" would the #1 get from videostreams? 10K? more?

Edited by Bjork

they should've count itunes music video sales like long time ago.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but will this change mean that songs have higher debuts? Because when big tracks are released they tend to get a shitload of views in their first few days on YouTube; so surely we'll get more songs going straight in at the top ends of the chart?

So ACR would be 1:200 and 1:1200 for subscription and ad-supported platform respectively right? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Also by now everyone should know this:

OCC to revamp Irish Singles Chart

The Official Irish Singles Chart is getting a makeover, including a new look and changes to the methodology that mirror the video streaming update to the UK rundown.

The changes are through an IRMA partnership with the Official Charts Company and consumer platform OfficialCharts.com.

The addition of video comes as established audio services such as Apple Music and Spotify increase their video offer and YouTube launches their first subscription service in Ireland. The first chart to include video will be published on July 6.

IRMA has also joined forces with consumer digital platform OfficialCharts.com to rebrand the Irish Charts and boost promotion of the Irish music market. The deal will see Official Charts creating a new online hub and Irish Charts social channel.

Willie Kavanagh, IRMA Chairman, said: “This is an incredibly exciting moment for the Irish Charts, the addition of video will ensure Ireland is keeping pace with today’s rapidly evolving music landscape. With new major digital services launching, video arriving on audio streaming platforms, and of course, the continued resurgence of vinyl, never before has there been more ways for Irish fans to enjoy their favourite music, whenever and however they want. It’s important that all this activity is captured and reflected in the nation’s official singles countdown, making it more insightful and relevant than ever. Plus, the fresh new look and visibility we are bringing to the Irish Charts and Irish music scene through our brand partnership with Official Charts and OfficialCharts.com is just the beginning of where we want to take this next."

The Irish charts will also emulate the UK with paid-for streams given greater weight than ad-funded streams, while a three-track cap will be placed on artists in the Top 100. A new streaming ratio will also come in from the 10th week on the chart if a track has been in decline for almost a month.

'Axel F' does amazing numbers on YouTube. Worldwide, it's the 26th most viewed music video of 2018 so far (and the 8th highest English-language song, if you consider it to be in English):
