No he'd be made a Lord and then some poor newly-elected Tory MP in a safe-seat would stand down through "illness" voluntarily and trigger a by-election.

Democracy

I don't think even the Banter Era would allow Boris to lose his seat and the Conservatives to win a majority at the same time. I don't even know what the protocol for the new PM would be in that situation.
I think that scenario is significantly more likely than Labour getting more seats than the Tories.
Honestly he was absolutely idiotic (shock) to not move to a safer seat - not that it matters because even if he does lose the seat he'll just be temporarily appointed to the Lords and then parachuted into a safe seat where a Tory MP 'conveniently' decides to resign after only a few days, but like...

Doesn't matter if he is parachuted or now, he loses all credibility as leader when he can't even win his own seat. You'd think the up and coming next ambition Tory MPs would be rubbing their hands with glee..

I don't even know what the protocol for the new PM would be in that situation.

Lordship immediately to allow him to carry on as PM and parachuted in to a safe seat asap.

Definitely. I think he'll manage to hold his seat either way.

This final hour is absolutely painful — whisky and comfort food at the ready.

I mean they can do that but how can he be expected to lead a whole country when his constituency doesn't even want him! I think it'll be close but I don't think he'll actually lose it sadly.

In a just world he'd absolutely lose all credibility (does he have any to begin with?) and be unable to continue... but this is 2019

Speculating on this is a fun distraction but yes, I'd still be very surprised if he actually did lose his seat, can see it being an even smaller majority than he had in 2017 though.

In other news.

'VERY interesting'. What does it mean. Why am I reading tweets. x

No I think he'll just hang on.

Conservative majority of 86. WOW JUST WOW.

Awful for Labour if true.

f*** that's so mch worse than I even thought, I feel sick

Could they even get get a majority of 100? Haven't exit polls underestimated the Tories before?

13 for LD.

That's quite the lead, on the upper end of the polls. But we'll see what the actual result will be, although not holding out for much improvement. Surprised to see the SNP on 55.
I'm just waiting for the surprise to be that, actually, there was a massive swing in the direction of the Conservatives and they get a massive majority.

Well.

I hate everything.

I mean I had a feeling they'd snatch a majority but I thought it'd be just about, a majority of 86 is really really sickening.
