Posted November 7, 20195 yr cVp9P1-fBy8 EEOeClFSQ1o It's 20 years since Spice Girls' Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton went head to head in the battle for #1. 'Lift Me Up' won the race with just shy of 140k whilst 'What I Am' sold 106k to place at #2. 20 years on, which is your favourite?

November 7, 20195 yr I loooove 'Lift Me Up', my favourite Geri song. The Emma song is decent but not a highlight for me.
November 7, 20195 yr Tin Tin Out by default because I can't recall a single thing about that Geri song. I'd say I've never heard it but I probably have and just don't remember it at all. 'What I Am' is ok but not exactly a timeless classic ~
November 7, 20195 yr Yeah 'Lift Me Up' wasn't Geri's best but 'What I Am' was decent. I imagine 'What I Am' has sold better overall?
November 7, 20195 yr The most iconic single released that week (a new entry at #5) would be my choice: _66jPJVS4JE
November 7, 20195 yr I'm team Emma here. 'What I Am' is such a great song and still sounds good today.
November 7, 20195 yr Wait no I forgot about 'Half of Me' which was truly horrendous, so it's not the worst thing she recorded, but still one of her weakest :kink:
November 7, 20195 yr Geri wins for me. That Emma song I always mistake for another song what I can’t recall by name but the chorus goes “what can I do to make you love me” I don’t know why it always reminds me of that.

November 7, 20195 yr The Corrs? What Can I Do Was about to post that. I was listening to that yesterday, great song.
November 7, 20195 yr Was about to post that. I was listening to that yesterday, great song. Tin Tin Out also did a mix of that song too :D
November 7, 20195 yr Tin Tin Out also did a mix of that song too :D Haha so they did. I think that’s the connection I make between the two.
November 7, 20195 yr agree on JLo's track being the best the Geri song was a non-event of a song, and Tin Tin Out/Emma is just a lifeless silly cover of an amazing original by Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians
November 7, 20195 yr I've already discussed this in some depth over on the Spice Girls AF thread about this battle but yes, 'What I Am' all the way for me (Further reading of my thoughts here). On a totally seperate note some class new entries in that top 10. Loved the J.Lo, Another Level and Savage Garden tracks (although that Another Level single would prove to be their last as Bobak and Wayne promptly threw hissy fits over Dane getting lead vocals and left. Shame as I feel like they could have been even bigger still. Mark is now working for Lord Sugar of all people!)
November 7, 20195 yr The people voting 'Lift Me Up' must surely have no problems with that key change being flatter than a witch's tit.
