They're not incompetent. They are corrupt. They were always going to find one way or another to cheat her out of the no.1. They are so desperate.

I don't agree with his point at large anyway tbh, I think the 3 year cut off is a very arbitrary length of time.

He missed out Katy Perry - Cozy Little Christmas, that should be at #9 with Billie at #10!

True, Cozy Little Christmas is on its second year of release.

#1. Ellie Goulding - River

#2. Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You (ACR Data)

* These figures correlate with her position of #19 in the official video streaming chart. The Jukebox Heaven #13 position would add approximately another 840,000 streams to Mariah, which I would estimate to be in the region of 700 to 800 ACR sales (or 1400 to 1600 SCR sales missing from her overall sales total). Evidently 700-800 sales wouldn't have made up the gap required to overtake Ellie.

https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/video-streaming-chart/

#12 - 849,843 video streams - Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now

#13 - Jukebox Heaven - All I Want for Christmas Is You

#14 - 833,293 video streams - Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

† Oops at Mariah's physical sales being quite weak. The prices were expensive - £13.98 for the 7" vinyl and £5.98 for a cassette, and both were only available via her UK online store which wasn't well promoted (Mariah's socials focused on her US store). It certainly wasn't as well handled as Wham!'s 7" vinyl, which sold 4,859 copies in Christmas week (retailing for a more reasonable £7.99 and it had much wider availability).

‡ I'm still confused by Wham! video streams being so much greater than Mariah according to OCC. They have Wham! with 2,249,051. If you add up Mariah's 714,076 video streams & the 840,000 streams erroneously given to Jukebox Heaven, that's still only 1.55m. The Kworb YouTube data showed that Mariah was achieving almost double the number of video streams as Wham. Where else other than YouTube would Wham have had the edge over Mariah? Something really doesn't add up.

"The craziest bit is that All I Want For Christmas Is You wasn't even the most-streamed single of the week. That honour goes to its perennial partner in crime Last Christmas by George Michael and Wham!, which this year celebrates an anniversary of its own. 35 years on from its first release, a year when it became stranded behind the original Band Aid single and became the biggest-selling Number 2 in chart history, Last Christmas this year breaks the all-time streaming record. The song was played a massive 17.1m times last week, edging its way past the 16.9m achieved by Ariana Grande with 7 Rings back in January 2019. For all that it is still only Number 3, simply because Mariah Carey had the edge over it in paid sales, enough as it turned out to notch up a slightly higher overall chart sale and relegating George and Andrew to Number 3."

So as can be seen from the stats I posted above, that final statement isn't actually true at all. Mariah is actually ahead of Wham purely in terms of streaming sales, so she would always have been ahead of Wham even if pure sales were disregarded. Therefore Mariah didn't "edge over it in paid sales".

Mariah: 69,978 audio sales + 645 video sales = 70,623 streaming sales (ACR)

Wham: 68,413 audio sales + 2,067 video sales = 70,480 streaming sales (ACR)

The overall streaming numbers, which has Wham as "17.1m" (17,131,809) vs. Mariah on 16,155,246, doesn't take into account the premium/ad-funded calculations applied to them. So despite Mariah having almost 1 million less overall listens/views than Wham (according to OCC), she still achieved better sales out of her figure than Wham did.

Thanks for those stats! Not sure whats going on with the physicals as there were at least 600 of each available in her store and there's only 12 left.

Mariah had roughly 6 million video views for the week, so that is what? 5000 points that weren't added to her total. 5000 extra points that would have made her number one.

This is bad.

Corruption and conspiracies abound xx

Can we all agree that neither Ellie nor Mariah deserve to be #1?

You're welcome! When it comes to the physicals, I suppose a lot of the sales came from fans outside of the UK? :( It shows a figure of 171 vinyl sold, so presumably the other 129 sales were the cassettes.

The video views issue is so confusing, because all signs point to Mariah achieving far more views than Wham. I'm wondering whether OCC have a cap on the number of video versions they take into account? Maybe they disregarded Mariah's behind-the-scenes and celebrity versions? I guess we'll never know...

Omg, THIS! Brer  :cheer:

Also from these statistics it seems there are many more paid subscriptions than free users on both Spotify and Amazon services

It could be from the error they made of sending some out the week before they were supposed to. Those sales were proably not counted.

Well the OC have dug themselves into a hole and will have some explaining to do! They have blatantly lied to Mariah's team. My gosh what have the charts become? what a joke.

Hey everybody, first time poster but I have been lurking around a while. Anyway, I thought of something earlier regarding the video streaming chart/Mariah debacle: is there a possibility there's other miscredited versions of 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' below the video streaming top 100? She released multiple videos of the song this week, and it would to some extent explain the huge gap between her and Wham! Regardless, I hope it gets addressed...

Welcome to the forum!

That's certainly a possibility. :o Eartha Kitt - Santa Baby (#98 in the video streaming chart) achieved 262,518 streams (I don't know #99/#100 figures), so I agree it's feasible that other Mariah versions could be lower than #100 and miscredited, and it would explain her curious lack of views in comparison to Wham.

I don't think the OCC will ever acknowledge the Jukebox Heaven error. :(

This!

Mariah is #1. 140k sales. Queen of Christmas!

Wow, you're obsessed with Mariah Carey. What are you, her stalker? Get over it, she isn't number 1

At least he's moved on from the GE/JC...

Agreed think we just need to admit Mariah's not number 1 and unless 10000 people storm the OCC office or a petition of 1m is reached it's not going to change, just be happy that in you hear and head we all know who is the real number 1
same for Mariah, Alexa was favouring it too and a hell of a lot too

as I said before, the real loser here with all the Alexa situation is Stormzy not Mariah,

looking at Spotify, Apple, iTunes, Stormzy would have been #1 not Mariah

I suspect Stormzy will climb to #1 by default (*) next week, as the Xmas songs drop away.

* i.e. despite a sales decline himself.

What if they didn't have to though if Ellie genuinely did more?
