Hun that’s like half a year old, move on

Sorry officer, I forgot that jokes have to be used within the required time limit.

I apologise for attempting to inject humour into anything.

Same 2 or 3 people whinging 24 hours later! Get over it....
The cover doesn't actually appear on YouTube at all, there's no other explanation.

So it's a random entry in a chart that isn't on the platform, lol wonder if they will explain!!

I asked Alexa who was christmas #1, she replied Mariah.

This!

Mariah is #1. 140k sales. Queen of Christmas!

Aaah. The now annual tantrums because Mariah doesn't get the #1. You love to see it.

Although hilarious to see some of the most rampant Ellie stans on here reiterating how Ellie is "deservedly number 1", yet they were amongst the masses who were annoyed when Mariah missed out in near identical circumstances last year.

Ellie is not no.1. It is fake and even they know it.

Sorry but the chart records and books will say she is Michael. She is officially No.1 choose whether you and others like it or not.

Why isn't this a huge Twitter story then? Hardly anything on there.

I think that shows how uninterested people are in the ‘official’ charts and Alexa Goulding tbh.

I mean the general public are never going to know or care about small things like the OCC messing up Mariah video streams.

From James Mastersons column:

"Despite the outrage you may see from the puritans online, this week demonstrates the rule working precisely as intended. Permanent ACR may have done little to stem the tidal wave of older hits dominating the charts at Christmas, but it has ensured that a strong and popular contemporary hit single has been allowed to emerge from the mess. We don't need a singles chart to tell us that people like listening to All I Want For Christmas Is You at Christmas time, that's a fact which is pretty self-evident. This week we have one which tells us that Ellie Goulding has the most popular current hit, and that is why she rightly is Number One and not an overplay hawk from another generation"

He also states that Wham was the most streamed song of the week.

Wham! was the most streamed song including both audio AND video streams, and we've already established the video streaming chart was inaccurate. Mariah was the most streamed song on audio streaming services.

He also post a contemporary chart without ACR tracks which is interesting and maybe what the chart will look like if the rules are changed going forward at Xmas:

I normally eschew "fantasy charts" but this is the one time of year we can be forgiven for it. Applying a filter which removes all ACR-ed festive singles, the "contemporary" Top 10 would actually look like this:

1: River - Ellie Goulding

2: Own It - Stormzy/Ed Sheera/Burna Boy

3: Happy Christmas (War Is Over) - John Legend

4: Before You Go - Lewis Capaldi

5: Don't Start Now - Dua Lipa

6: Roxanne - Arizona Zervas

7: Santa's Coming For Us - Sia

8: Dance Monkey - Tones & I

9: Everything I Wanted - Billie Eilish

10: Adore You - Harry Styles

So fair play, we only have to go down as far as Number 26 on the real chart to find our ten contemporary hits.
