This is nearly as good as 2009. Wonder what will happen in 2029?

The best thing about it is that the reasons some people are stating for why Mariah should be #1 are also the among the reasons why a lot of us say she shouldn't be #1. The hypocrisy

I am loving how this has way more interest than the Christmas chart!
Do any of you know when was the last time,if ever, that two cover versions of songs from the 1970s were consecutive no.1 singles?

LadBaby's cover is from 1982.

This should have been the Christmas chart... it had more suspense!

Lol Rats is a bit sinister lol

Rancid sewer rats  They never should have missed with the charts, what once was one of the best in the world is nothing but a joke, they make it up as they go along doing whatever they like. But they've slipped up here and will regret their vile acts of manipulation.

How does she fall to 19?!?

Is that Elton/George Michaels Don't Let The Sun & Queen Bohemian Rapsody in December 1991?

It feels more Christmassy!

The best songs get to number 2 - I'm glad that none of the 3 big tracks have made number 1, as if Mariah does then Wham should at the very least.

It basically was lol, the way the week fell, it's the earliest moment the Xmas no1 can be announced I think.

Bohemian Rhapsody was a re-release,not a cover version,so that doesn't count.

Passive streaming happens 365 days a year on Hot Hits and the like. The main problem I have here is with the repeat plays - once you ask to play Christmas songs, every song played should count once only, repeat plays shouldn't be counted until you ask again or for a particular song.
Bohemian Rhapsody was a re-release,not a cover version,so that doesn't count.

Is there an actual answer?

Yes in 1992, Please Don't Go and then the Erasure EP of Abba covers.

There is no huge reaction on social media, so again as I said before record companies aren't interested in the U.K. chart, it's like getting a bad mark at school on a subject you're not planning to do at University
