With 18 year old Billie Eilish set to score her first UK #1 single next week with No Time To Die; the theme to the 25th Bond movie, it seemed right to take a moment to appreciate other young singers who have achieved the dizzy heights of being top of the singles charts at the early stages of their careers.

This list is not a complete list, and there are surely many others who have got to #1 as a teenager, but here are just a few names I picked out, and if you would like to add others to the thread please do.

Billie – Because We Want To

15 years old at the time of #1 in 1998

Britney Spears – Baby One More Time

18 years old at the time of #1 in 1999

Christina Aguilera – Genie In A Bottle

18 years old at the time of #1 in 1999

Ella Henderson – Ghost

18 years old at the time of #1 in 2014

Gareth Gates – Unchained Melody

17 years old at the time of #1 in 2002

Holly Valance – Kiss Kiss

18 years old at the time of #1 in 2002

LeAnn Rimes – Can’t Fight The Moonlight

18 years old at the time of #1 in 2000

Lorde – Royals

16 years old at the time of #1 in 2013

Martin Garrix – Animals

17 years old at the time of #1 in 2013

McFly – Five Colours In Her Hair

16-18 years old at the time of #1 in 2004

One Direction – What Makes You Beautiful

17-19 years old at the time of #1 in 2011

Pixie Lott – Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)

18 years old at the time of #1 in 2009

Rihanna (feat. Jay-Z) – Umbrella

19 years old at the time of #1 in 2007

Shawn Mendes – Stitches

17 years old at the time of #1 in 2016

t.A.T.u – All The Things She Said

18-19 years old at the time of #1 in 2003

Tiffany – I Think We’re Alone Now

16 years old at the time of #1 in 1988

crazy that Lorde was only 16 when she released Royals, seems like the work of someone much older

a bit like Billie Eilish now

Billie, Britney, Christina, Ella, Holly, LeAnn, Rihanna, t.A.T.u & Tiffany.

Britney is yet to be topped for me personally, but that's actually not a bad list at all! Also, 'Girlfriend' > 'Because We Want To' *eyes*

Voted Ella Henderson, Martin Garrix, Rihanna, Lorde & Tiffany!

Good to see this is a close tie at this early stage, but there’s not much love for 17 year old Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates then.

Okay song but the Righteous Brothers version is the best.

Quite liked Mama Do and was a catchy song but not doing too well here.

Very true!

Personally I think it's the song more than Gareth , I prefer AOOU

I ended up voting for quite a few of them! My top 5 would be:

01. Britney Spears – Baby One More Time

02. Holly Valance – Kiss Kiss

03. Christina Aguilera – Genie In A Bottle

04. Lorde – Royals

05. McFly – Five Colours In Her Hair

This is actually a rather good bunch of songs, In fact, Stitches & Mama Do aside, I'd happily listen to any of these (yes, including Billie and Gareth, shush x)

I think my top 5 would be:

01. Can't Fight the Moonlight

02. Royals

03. All The Things She Said

04. Ghost

05. Animals

Nouns ftw

I didn't realise this was multiple choice and only voted for Lorde oops xo

But if I had realised I'd still have only voted for Lorde tbh. (jk, 'Kiss Kiss' and 'Animals' would be my next 2 choices and would probably leave it there, there are plenty others on there that I like but don't really stan).

I did not know that LeAnn Rimes was so young when 'Can't Fight The Moonlight' came out!
