Yeah the messages remain mixed Jack, today alone I've seen the following on Twitter:

- Those sensationalist positive covers from The Sun and other newspapers

- On the flip side, 3 more weeks of lockdown talk

- "I take Boris' word over Nicola, if he says restrictions are lifted on Sunday then I'm seeing my mates" - as if they'd be completely lifted at this stage and not eased, but this had thousands of likes and a grim comment section :drama:

- "who has more power over this - Boris or Nicola?"

lol a lot of this stuff just comes up on my feed because people quote tweet it to slag it off :') but yikes it's a shambles

Tbh they need to just ENSURE that people keep their distance on the street & in supermarkets. Anything else becomes personal choice and the vulnerable/cautious can navigate around it.
Rooney your point in regards to everyone leaving London is very accurate basically everyone I work with left London and they will all be called back to work at some point.

By explaining the thought process of how some of the UK public are to someone who does not live in the country when they were asking the question?

Perhaps not get involved without reading the previous comments on it. Thanks for saying I’m rude though given you seem utterly vile yourself.

To be honest, that did sound very condescending. Like Suede said, it's sometimes pretty useful to see how outsiders perceive the country you're living in.

Russian death numbers are soooo beyond suspicious. It's the lowest amount per 1M but life expectancy over here is really low and even though healthcare system is free for everyone, I find it extremely hard to believe we don't have more deaths. They are most likely just being filed under "pneumonia/flu".

Have you seen that story about the Russian doctors in windows? It's all very bizarre.

Same goes for the rest of the world though, there is no official reporting tool so each country is fiddling their figures and not always showing the whole picture (UK included).

Another person who didn’t read the previous commentary on it. The point being discussed was why the UK cases are still high and my point was so many people are not following regulations due to a variety of reasons and it’s difficult to understand the mentality of some British people without experiencing it day to day it was nothing to do with how other countries view us.

It is clear that many here are quick to jump down people’s throats without reading all facts.

And yet all my friends, including my sister, who moved to work in London are all still living there in lockdown.

This presser is a mess. I don’t believe that the R0 is under 1 at all. The amount of new infections each day isn’t dropping. Something which coincides with a lower R0!

Looks like Boris has been utterly telt by the devolved nations and the scientists and is now trying to row back from the leaked comments about reopening. He’s so feckless he’s actually killing people.

Quite a dismissive attitude to take of our userbase for someone who’s been registered here for a fortnight.

This is, quite frankly, a load of bullshit. All of the people who you have levied this accusation against will have read all of the relevant parts of the discussion before replying. Insulting to the intelligence of our userbase as well as just plain condescending.

Oh what a surprise targeting me yet again and trashing everything I say. Well done you have driven me off this forum and I won’t be posting again.

I was referring to everyone I know.

Thankfully I won’t have cross paths with you again pathetic individual.

Alex, with respect, I've agreed with many of your points, but this tone is a bit overly aggressive. This is a community where we're friends and try & respect each other even if we have different views. Is it possible you're perhaps reading aggression into posts where it wasn't intended?

Meanwhile Alexander Loekasjenko of Belarus is doing literally NOTHING to prevent the virus from spreading, is actively campaigning for his re-election in august and is organising a huge military parade in Minsk this saturday

His advice has been to wash your hands with vodka and poison the virus with it by drinking.

The virus is, according to him, a psychosis.

Daily numbers are pretty huge with 9.5 million inhabitants. Today nearly 1000 new cases with a total of 20k.

Most deaths are also due to a lung infection, whilst covid-19 is ravaging the population :')

It’s funny how “you can’t compare internationally” is the phrase of the week now that the comparisons are unfavourable to the UK. A month ago it was all “look at how dogshit Italy and Spain are. Aren’t we so wonderful. Rule Britannia”

You couldn't make it up. Of course the tory scum press won't say a word. God I hate the British media so much.

Michael's right, we're headed towards a one-party state. When this all started I tried to avoid party politics but no, the tories need to be held to account. When will people wake up :drama:

At least 99.9% on here will be friendly on here. Come back when you're nice, Alex P, no need for aggression like that on here.

Oh come off it, this is a little bit hyperbole. Peston basically said tonight (from whoever gave him the info) that R0 in the community is just about where it needs to be, but it's still a problem in some hospitals and care homes, so the R0 is likely to be nearer the 0.9 figure than the 0.5 figure.

I honestly have no idea where this grand re-opening is coming from. I am not a fan of this Government but I look at things with a balanced perspective. It all seems to be heading towards another 3 weeks of slightly eased lockdown for the general public, which will be the same as the rest of the United Kingdom in the main. However where possible some businesses will re-open, but probably construction mainly.

We're doing what loads of other countries have done and will be delivering a roadmap of phases (which is exactly what the Scottish government have/will be doing too). I'm all for criticising government where it needs to be done but some of the stuff in here is just a little bit ridiclous.

The lockdown in the UK doesn't seem to work just yet.

I have not. Oh dear. It looks shady as f***. Assassinations have always been a thing over here so that's an option I guess?

Medical staff isn't getting (PROMISED!) salary increases, they are still working without protective equipment and anyone who speaks out publicly gets persecuted by the police thanks to this new law that is supposed to prevent "fake news" regarding Covid-19. No one is getting any kind of support from the government except big business. Just "non-work days" for over a month. A forced vacation. People I know were forced to sign resignation letters otherwise they would be fired. The government is also refusing to call this "quarantine". It's merely "self-isolation" because in order to call it quarantine they would have to invoke a state of emergency and obviously they aren't going to pay anyone despite TRILLIONS of RUB in the federal reserves. It's an absolute f***ing shambles over here. Official statements are along the lines of "it's tough times but you hold on" just like an infamous phrase said by Vladi PewTina.

The death hits 30,000 the highest in the world bar the utterly disastrous USA and the UK press go on about easing lockdown while deaths are still in the hundreds. Political.

I think people are already ignoring Lockdown, they don't need any further encouragement until we see genuine drops in numbers of deaths out of the hundreds a day. If this was the start of the crisis and 500 people just died TODAY it would have been regarded as catastrophic. Just because we have adjusted to the reality that 30,000 including hundreds of doctors and nurses have died is no reason to think that the government has been less than f***ing useless at all stages. Twat Johnson even caught himself through being as thick as a brick and not listening to sensible advice.

Today in Bournemouth, a work colleague checking on temporarily closed catering establishments along the seafront was approached by a lovely polite couple on a day out from Essex asking for directions to Lulworth Cove. Yes, really.

THAT's an example of why the death total in the UK is not following the traditional bell-curve. We have our own bell-end-curve to proudly show the world how big it is. Bigger than anyone else's except Trump's USA.
