Romance is not always positive; romance can be heart-breaking or scary or confusing. Break-up songs deal with the fallout of a romantic relationship, and so by definition deal with the theme of romance.

 

As Liam used 'Dancing On My Own', I'll continue with that. It's about someone seeing another person's positive romance and finding the strength to be alone and wanted despite that. Not all romantic songs will be about someone complimenting another or falling in love with them in an overtly positive way. It's a very complex and layered emotion/state of being.

What an atrocious round. Honestly the only ones up there I actually like are Pink, Gaga and Robbie. Madonna’s was ok I guess. I feel like a majority of these artists just aren’t people you want to hear ballads from.

 

 

I agree probably my least favourite round unfortunately! Usually the good ballads stand out enough to be released as singles. There are some gems here though...

When I saw the theme I thought this round was like a bit of a nightmare, so pleasantly surprised to have genuinely enjoyed five of these and to be happy to vote for the other 3.

 

Given the amount of votes and the comments it's had, surprised that the song I immediately put to the bottom after getting half way through it was the Lady Gaga one.
