I do actively dislike 'Sour Candy' and 'Plastic Doll', and 'Free Woman' is the song with the most wasted potential. It's so close to being really good but the drop and MOR production hold it back. May 29, 20205 yr I think this album is pretty much the result we'd get if ARTPOP went to rehab, got their shit together and was actually good and not the mess we got! Omg :lol: :lol: I kinda feel the way she spoke about ARTPOP before it’s release this is like what I imagined it was gonna sound like. I think this album has ARTPOPs vision for what an album with that title would sound like if that makes sense this is like ARTPOP but with the message being understood outside the Stans.
May 29, 20205 yr From first listen: I love how this album combines different elements from all of her previous albums. It mixes the sentiment of Joanne, the adrenaline rush from ARTPOP, the mindless indulgence from her debut, the aesthetics from TFM, and the retro influences from BTW. It's the best elements of each album mixed into something that goes down smooth and can be put on repeat endlessly. This is probably gonna fight with The Weeknd & Dreamcatcher for my top album this year. 01 | Rain On Me - POP PERFECTION 02 | Sine From Above - After seeing who was credited, I instantly thought to myself "this is gonna be an Axwell Λ Ingrosso feat. Vargas & Lagola track with Gaga and Elton's vocals" and needless to say I was right. This reminds me so much of "Dancing Alone" but so much better :heart: :heart: Also that outro is the right way to blend two types of dance subgenres, whoever thought of that deserves all the praise in the world. 03 | Stupid Love - still gives me chills 04 | Replay - JAW DROPPED. WHO GAVE HER THE RIGHT TO GIVE US A DAFT PUNK/STARDUST DROP WITH THAT BUILDUP HOLY HELL 05 | Alice - This combined with the Chromatica I intro gave me goosebumps. 06 | Sour Candy - this was so far off from what BP usually does that I was surprised to see that Teddy Park had some involvement in the song's creation (though that might just be the Korean lyrics in the song). It kinda reminds me of "Girls Like" and "Swish Swish" a bit. JISOO KILLED ME WITH HER VERSE. THIS CONCEPT FITS HER LIKE A GLOVE. This is gonna top dance charts huh 07 | Babylon - Kinda fitting that this is next to Sour Candy in my rankings because this also gives me fashion show vibes. 08 | 911 - It's ARTPOP 2.0 and I'm not mad. The chorus really sells it for me. ~everything above this line is like a 15/10 GOD TIER rank~ 09 | Free Woman - I like the "be-be-be-be free-free-free-free" echo at the end of that buildup, I think that was a better hook than the rest of the chorus. 10 | Plastic Doll - I would have had zero idea that Skrillex co-produced it had I not looked it up on Wikipedia. 11 | Fun Tonight - This gives me the same airy vibes as Fashion Of His Love. It's standard Gaga and I can't fault her for that tbh. 12 | Enigma - This only suffers in ranking because it's the one that's the least instant or doesn't make my jaw drop immediately 13 | 1000 Doves - idk I feel like I've heard so many songs of this type before also shout out to Chromatica II interlude because that opening cello part is sublime. idk how I'm gonna survive the next few days, I had Monsta X the previous Tuesday and now this + TWICE comeback on Monday, and then I hear about Blinks spreading a rumor that a Sour Candy music video will come on the 2nd I'M NOT READY

I think she could've left Plastic Doll and 1000 Doves out. Plastic Doll is far too cluttered and 1000 Doves is such an anti-climatic ugly sister, next to SFA. It serves no purpose. Other than that, I see value in every other track (including Stupid Love). Love this!
