I was sick past 2 weeks like really sick (I was covid positive this January and had zero symptoms) and both times I did the test came back negative including flu.

So there's also other viruses circulating around or maybe I just had bad cold but I don't recall being this sick in a while (cough, throat, muscle pain etc etc).

Apparently the new strain doesn't show up on home tests. Of course could just be regular cold or flu though. Hope you're back to 100% soon!

I did tests in Urgent Care…PCR + Antigen.

And thank you, I’m feeling much better now.

I thought you could get a booster whenever? Seems odd to restrict them when there's such plentiful supply and not all older folks will be getting them anyway.

Official policy here is only certain ages groups are recommended for the Omricon booster, but they opened booking in Berlin to all so I got vaccinated with a 4th dose (my first Pfizer one) with a BA.4/5 booster last month.

Defo worth asking or even going to a drop in clinic if they’re still around to see if you can get one if you want one

I think you can technically get one if you want, it’s just that the vulnerable groups get called up. I had my booster the other week and it was a lot less of a military operation like it was before. It’s be worth finding out because you probably can get one.

There is an article in the Guardian today that the general public have been paying Johnson’s legal fees through taxpayers money to defend himself during the privileges committee investigation exploring partygate. This is outrageous. In what other role where someone is accused of public misconduct would this be allowed to happen? If I committed misconduct in my social work job, I would have to attend a public hearing and pay for my own lawyer. Yet another example of one rule for them and one for us at a time when public services are crying out for additional money to be able to function properly.

I literally can't talk about what I think of that man. Give him a job shovelling horse crap for pennies for the rest of his life.

Utterly vile, can you even imagine being a multimillionaire and still choosing to steal from government coffers to pay your own legal fees from BREAKING THE LAW OF THE COUNTRY?

I agree completely. He is a compulsive liar and knows he is deep in the s**t but the cheek of it to be allowed to use taxpayers money towards his defence is the worst part of it.

The man has earned a million pounds since leaving the office of prime minister. He can afford a lawyer

Correction. He has been paid more than £1m.

In a further development, the met has been urged to reopen the partygate enquiry following new evidence coming to light. Reports of staff destroying evidence that parties did take place during lockdown and a video of Johnson laughing and joking about having the most socially distanced parties suggests it contradicts his earlier statements.

Hope you don’t, Jade.

I THINK, I might have had covid for the first time a couple of weeks ago but I didn’t test as I was off work anyway so I don’t know for sure. It was very much a heavy cold for the most part except one night where my body was aching so much I could barely move.

I dislike the fearmongering tone reporting about this new one is taking. I've read several articles now which lead with scary "could this be?!" statements, only to reveal in the body of the text that there's no evidence this variant is any more impactful than the existing ones.

Right now I am avoiding news about it bc it freaks me out to see the headlines. I work in health so I will know in good time if its something to worry about.

I think it's more that the strain is different to Omicron. It does seem to be taking off and spiking infections - I dare say a large part of it is done to encourage people who are eligible to take up all the jabs.

Well, I hadn't thought of that mind. Good point.

I still think panic is unhelpful but I hadn't thought of there being that purpose to it as a means to an end.
