Mariah and perhaps Wham! will get a number 1 this year. The OCC will then be able to introduce some rule which limits the impact of Christmas songs next year without much of a fuss. I'd like The Pogues to get a week at the top too as it's the 20th anniversary of Kirsty MacColl's tragic death on 18 December.

I don't think it really works to say Shawn has lost 8k fans.

I know he hasn't literally lost 8k fans but you know what I mean - if 8k less people buy this album on its opening week than his last one, that's a lot of fans deserting him.

Also Wonder is doing just fine. It should debut with 15-17k sales which is in line with his previous debuts. And like Joseph said, Shawn is a consistent album seller and will do well in the long run. Moreover let’s not forget that the album has produced two top-twenty singles that seem to be doing well on streaming.

I don't see how it's redundant to be comparing an artist's opening sales for two consecutive albums and then highlighting the difference. As I said I don't *literally* mean that he's lost 8000 fans but a difference of 8k definitely proves he's declined in popularity somewhat since then in terms of his core fanbase.

 

Maybe the album will sell consistently in the long run (and I hope it does) but that's not the point I was making.

I expected higher for Shawn, but I definitely just had higher expectations due to it being Q4.. I don't think he's performing any more or any less than it would have done earlier in the year tbh. I think my expectations for Q4 are always exaggerated. Just look at Miley. A MASSIVE hit but a similar performing album (to Shawn) and again, I don't think Miley would have done too much less outside of Q4.

 

So I'd say Shawn is performing about as expected tbh.
