December 7, 20205 yr I’m happy for Mariah to finally get the #1, but then can they please create a Holiday Songs chart and where Christmas songs older than 3 years would appear, rather than on the main chart.
December 7, 20205 yr For fun, how the chart would look without Christmas songs (I'm counting Celeste as a Christmas song in this case, though I think the Griff song is also on an Xmas ad? If so, move everything up one and the phresh Savage Love is at #40 x): 1 POSITIONS ARIANA GRANDE 2 SWEET MELODY LITTLE MIX 3 MIDNIGHT SKY MILEY CYRUS 4 WHOOPTY CJ 5 34+35 ARIANA GRANDE 6 THEREFORE I AM BILLIE EILISH 7 LEVITATING DUA LIPA 8 YOU BROKE ME FIRST TATE MCRAE 9 PRISONER MILEY CYRUS FT DUA LIPA 10 REALLY LOVE KSI/CRAIG DAVID/DIGITAL FARM 11 PARADISE MEDUZA FT DERMOT KENNEDY 12 MONSTER SHAWN MENDES & JUSTIN BIEBER 13 GET OUT MY HEAD SHANE CODD 14 MOOD 24KGOLDN FT IANN DIOR 15 TRAIN WRECK JAMES ARTHUR 16 BLINDING LIGHTS WEEKND 17 WITHOUT YOU KID LAROI 18 HEAD & HEART JOEL CORRY FT MNEK 19 LOVE IS A COMPASS GRIFF 20 DYNAMITE BTS 21 WONDER SHAWN MENDES 22 LEMONADE INTERNET MONEY/GUNNA/TOLIVER 23 HOLIDAY LIL NAS X 24 GOLDEN HARRY STYLES 25 LOADING CENTRAL CEE 26 SEE NOBODY WES NELSON & HARDY CAPRIO 27 LONELY JUSTIN BIEBER & BENNY BLANCO 28 I MISS U JAX JONES FT AU/RA 29 WHAT YOU KNOW BOUT LOVE POP SMOKE 30 SUNFLOWER POST MALONE FT SWAE LEE 31 DAILY DUPPY - PART 1 DIGGA D 32 LOOKING FOR ME PAUL WOOLFORD & DIPLO/LOMAX 33 NO TIME FOR TEARS NATHAN DAWE & LITTLE MIX 34 WAP CARDI B FT MEGAN THEE STALLION 35 PLUGGED IN FREESTYLE FUMEZ THE ENGINEER/A92/OFFICA 36 DIAMONDS SAM SMITH 37 REAL S**T JUICE WRLD/BENNY BLANCO 38 PRINCESS CUTS HEADIE ONE FT YOUNG T & BUGSEY 39 AIN'T IT DIFFERENT HEADIE ONE/AJ TRACEY/STORMZY 40 BODY MEGAN THEE STALLION The most depressing part of this is Miley and LM would be repeaking
December 7, 20205 yr Didn’t bother to count how many Christmas songs were in the top 100 but it’s a lot. Thinking it could be 75+ on Christmas week itself
December 7, 20205 yr But is it not just the general market decline as opposed to "his fans abandoning him"? Yeah, I suppose so to an extent - but then Steps managed to open with even higher sales than their previous album so idk.
December 7, 20205 yr No Someone You Loved in top 100! and Dance Monkey at #100 - what a breath of fresh air
December 7, 20205 yr I’m happy for Mariah to finally get the #1, but then can they please create a Holiday Songs chart and where Christmas songs older than 3 years would appear, rather than on the main chart. This is what I hope they do - still gives new Xmas songs a chance to chart without being held back by the classics. Having said that, Mariah deserves the #1 at this point so hope this is her week (also prevent her overtaking Wham as the best selling #2). Surprised at those Yungblud album sales, didn’t think he had that kind of support. Edited December 7, 20205 yr by GTH
December 7, 20205 yr An Ellie Goulding fan talking about underperformance. I have to laugh! What the hell is wrong with you?
December 7, 20205 yr I bet LadBaby will release something this Wednesday to score #1 instead of Mariah!
December 7, 20205 yr I know who YUNGBLUD is (vaguely), is he more of a heavily fanbase-type act or is he genuinely that popular and I haven't realised?
December 7, 20205 yr I’m happy for Mariah to finally get the #1, but then can they please create a Holiday Songs chart and where Christmas songs older than 3 years would appear, rather than on the main chart. it wouldnt be Christmas without christmas songs clogging up the charts... December 7, 20205 yr Kelly coming to repeak again :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:  :cheer: :cheer:
December 7, 20205 yr I know who YUNGBLUD is (vaguely), is he more of a heavily fanbase-type act or is he genuinely that popular and I haven't realised? His previous album chart appearance (I think it was an EP to be fair) went 6-87-x. I'm sure this one will hold up better but he's definitely pretty heavily fanbase-oriented. At the same time though he is one of the few indie/rock acts who has demonstrated an ability to make the singles chart (mostly on collaborations with more established artists but he did recently crack the top 100 with a solo song for the first time) so he must have some level of wider appeal. I'd say he's kind of in a similar boat to The 1975 but a little more niche and a lot more punchable.
December 7, 20205 yr Well it looks like YUNGBLUD will be another to add to the small pool of artists born after me who are hitting #1 - his birth date is literally the day after mine
December 7, 20205 yr Why the Blinding Lights resurgence? It got a new remix with ROSALÍA this week (not doing much in its own right but enough to push it up a few places I guess). With that said I think it is actually lower than it was this time last week? (edit: I am wrong, may have been thinking of the previous week x)
December 7, 20205 yr Those fellow youths must be buying it from his webstore because it’s not high enough anywhere else to get those sales! He's got something like 8 CD versions and 6 cassettes plus 2 or 3 different Vinyls, so that's going to help.
December 7, 20205 yr Yeah, I suppose so to an extent - but then Steps managed to open with even higher sales than their previous album so idk. They had a huuuuge amount of formats/bundles this time (was it their most ever? Idk). I know Shawn has had a few, but nowhere near as many and he hasn't (yet) discounted his album 50% due to a close battle with another album. I imagine being £4.99 everywhere helped persuade casual buyers! (P.s. Steps would have still opened respectively without all these formats/deductions, I just think they would have been a tad lower than their last album)
