December 11, 20205 yr Author Not Radio 1 actually playlisting a Christmas song :o (well it's not but it kind of is in the last verse) If anyone could sway them into it, it had to be Sam Fender! Not many additions to get excited about, guess it's that time of year where releases are thin in the ground. Obviously they'll A-list Taylor next week, they wouldn't have known about it in time this week though I'm sure she'll get plenty of spot plays anyway.
December 11, 20205 yr Great to see Eric Prydz and Camelphat move up to B and High Contrast up to A List :o
December 11, 20205 yr Good week for dance songs moving up the playlist! Also really like the Pa Salieu, 24k Goldn and Sam Fender songs. Very surprised they’ve playlisted a (sort of) Christmas song though - I wonder if it will survive on the playlist into January? Poor Sunflower Bean though - when was the last time a song only got 1 week on the B List before being booted off?

Poor Sunflower Bean though - when was the last time a song only got 1 week on the B List before being booted off? 'Dead Celebrities' by Easy Life earlier this year. Before that it was 'Dark Vader' by J Hus in 2018 but yeah it doesn't happen often these days. It used to be more common though - 12 songs did it in 2015! I kinda ashamed to say Coco is an absolute bop - glad it’s been added  It's nothing to be ashamed of, it IS a bop :D
December 11, 20205 yr Great to see the theory that Radio 1 don't play Christmas songs has been thrown out of the water with the addition of Sam Fender, its clearly a seasonal song with the title and lyrics. As Mango said if anyone can Sam would. Why not add it a couple of weeks ago though? Itll likely be C-C-C-OUT>

I guess they just don't usually playlist them?
December 11, 20205 yr Yeh they normally play the classics and then some newer ones which don't get playlisted. I mean they played The Killers 'Great Big Sled' back in 2009 or whenever it came out and Leona/Kelly in 2013 (Scott Mills obv loved them) ALOT but never playlisted them. Basically any playlisted songs newly added from the start of December are frigged in terms of plays as they have to make space for xmas songs as well so don't get the same support especially over Christmas week.
December 11, 20205 yr That Tom Everett song being a rare case of an Introducing playlist song going on to be added to the main playlist - surprising but it was a pretty good tune iirc. A great week here for LOWES :magic:
December 11, 20205 yr R1 probably didn't know she was releasing this week like the rest of us when they had the playlist meeting, she'll be A-listed next week.
December 11, 20205 yr No Taylor? lol this UK is really a joke. Didn't you make this exact same post when 'cardigan' was also not added immediately (for the same reason)? Lol ~ edit: No Taylor? LOL, OK enough is enough in the UK really the hate for her. Classic
December 11, 20205 yr Author No Taylor? lol this UK is really a joke. Why not just read the posts in the thread for an explanation of why she wasn't added this week instead of making a dramatic post about the UK hating her? :)
December 11, 20205 yr No Taylor? lol this UK is really a joke. Taylor was not sent to the radios for playlist submission, it was top secret, which is why she is not included...
December 11, 20205 yr I like that both times it's been the entire UK being blamed for it and not just Radio 1 as well.
December 11, 20205 yr Yeah was coming to ask the same but as noone outside of Taylor and her team knew it even existed 24 hours ago I'm not suprised she didnt get added
