What are your chart moments/ reflections of the year

I think for me the music in the charts this year, the most surprising #1 has to be Mariah getting that peak at #1 after a long wait. I have found the music pretty much not favourable by me, I love most of the dance tracks especially Breaking Me, Roses and Head & Heart.

Mood was one of those tracks that was different and stood out from the pack of the #1s, it grew on me each time I heard it.

Favourite #1 track for me has to be Blinding Lights and I'm still loving it after so many months in the chart.

I don't follow the album chart that much, but there has been so many of them this year its hard to pick a favourite, so I've opted for Kylie.

Highlights for me are probably new music from Kylie & Steps, and Mariah finally getting to #1 with All I Want For Christmas Is You
‘Rain On Me’ getting to #1 was a big one for me  two of my favourite artists delivering one of my songs of the year and beating off tough competition from ‘ROCKSTAR’ to get there - love that it was the 6th #1 for both of them too.
I think chart music has been the best it's been in a few years tbh. Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus have all brought the A-game and it's been great to see that rewarded with strong chart success. Same goes for Kylie too, who may not be able to compete in the singles but achieved the highest album sales of the year (for one week at least)!
Highlight for me was Perfect spending 4 weeks in the top 40
Kylie Disco in general is my highlight of the year especially it going Number 1 and giving her the 5th decade of Number 1s record.
Yeh Mariah was quite the moment and the LM vs Kylie week was great fun albeit in a BJ world

Gaga having a big return to form and having her two lead singles smash especially 'Rain On Me'. I don't think aside from 'Shallow'.. she was ever likely to get to #1 again so it was amazing to see Gaga prove people wrong.

And... I'm sure this will get mentioned but having a Eurovision song make the charts again too even if hanging round the lower end of the top 40. It's again another thing that was written off and in a streaming world made it near on impossible to happen ever again.

The Weeknd & Dua Lipa saving pop music has to rank up there - especially Blinding Lights getting to #1  it's incredibly rare a song that amazing reaches the top, let alone becomes the biggest hit of the year!

Dadi Freyr's Think About Things had to be the strangest hit in a long time, what a wonderful moment it was <3

also Bring Me The Horizon reaching the Top 40 THREE TIMES. Not sure if people realise how impressive that actually is, even the first one seemed like a miracle

Massive dance number one in form of 'Head & Heart' was definitely a nice surprise this year

EDIT: Oh, and also 'Looking for Me' becoming huge chart hit was an incredibly nice surprise. I never thought a song like this can become so successful in 2020!

I don’t really follow the singles charts anymore. Lost interest a while ago. Now the albums chart is far more exciting and biggest surprise was Kylie Disco beating Little Mix and getting the highest first week sales of the year at that point during a lockdown!!
This year had the best quality of #1s probably since 2010. I liked all of them bar No Time To Die and the charity ones.

Dua's album was probably my musical highlight of 2020 but there's been plenty of other great albums from the likes of McFly, Little Mix, The Killers, Kylie, Rina Sawayama, Declan McKenna and The Lottery Winners to name a few.

Plenty of lows too - 'WAP' remains one of my least favourite numbers ones ever, it's just awful, and 'Lemonade' and 'Toosie Slide' weren't much better.

Chart surprises of the year for me are Lady Gaga getting another number one, and obviously Mariah finally making it - I wouldn't have believed it at the start of the year!

Mariah getting the #1 finally!

not so much a highlight but a chart annoyance this year was little mix missing the #1 yet again when at any other point in the year (bar 4/5 weeks) they would've decimated the competition for #1 lol. it's sad that their "thing" is not getting the #1 on a week where they would any other time smh.

and to end on a highlight the chart success of Sweet Melody was really nice to see, given the performances of BUS and Holiday.

Rain on Me going #1 and Kylie getting her 8th #1 album
My favourite highlights were Eminem, Doves, Declan McKenna, The Killers, Tame Impala, The Strokes, The Weeknd, Mystery Jets, Jessie Ware, Glass Animals, Haim, Jack Garrett, Biffy Clyro, Sea Girls, Protoje, Gorillaz & Nothing But Thieves!

'WAP' was one of the highlights of 2020 in single department...racy, filthy, sexy lyrics accompanied with amazing visuals, it also created lots of buzz and drama (for better or worse) and it was JUST nice witnessing all of that!!!

Also going #1 in US and UK was just cherry on a top
