Surely there will be lots of albums released "over the coming weeks", there have never been months without new releases, surprise or not. :P

we do have a Drake album coming this month but I’m not convinced he’ll be able to have high sales, given the mixtape last year only did 19k first week.

Part of the "fault" is the way album streams are being counted too - two sizeable hits don't bring much extra for album sales, so album has to have at least 3-4 big songs before we see the effect on album chart (as top 2 songs are "neutralised")

That's why The Weeknd didn't even make top 20 on YE album chart despite releasing the by far biggest song of 2020.

Why should he have made the YE Top 20 if the majority if his album wasn't being listened to though? Blinding Lights was the biggest hit of the year - that's reflected in the YE singles - the album was not.

But then is that really valid to represent an album ‘sale’ if people are just listening to 1/2 singles and nothing else. I do agree the current system is not perfect and worth a review where the album market is changing very quickly.

If there wasn’t a pandemic going on, I’d advise you to go outside. I was simply pointing out facts and you are taking it way too personally and seem to be going out of your way to belittle All Saints whilst claiming not to. I’m not even an All Saints fan, I don’t even dislike Spice Girls but it feels now like you’re taking it too personally and getting personal about me also so I’d rather you just stopped addressing me. I have no agenda to do the Spice Girls down.

What me conveniently forgetting and boasting to hype up my fave, those facts? Sure sweetie you were just stating facts and not being personal at all. Funny thing is I'm not even bothered I actually found your comments hilarious. What is irritating though is how you are now trying to claim that you were oh so fair and unbiased while I'm clearly the obsessed loon. Sure whatever fits your narrative.

I just want to add, that I don't have a problem with the system, I think it's actually pretty good (apart from favouring GHs) but it's one reason why the sales are low in units. Other being the sales/streams ratio being maybe wrong considering the current market.

Does it hurt seeing them at the top?

Not for this week. I say let them have it this week

#2-4 in the album charts are SO close! I'd rather Harry ended up at #2 that Little Mix. Clearly Taylor is the #1 and Harry would re-peak if he ends up at #2. Little Mix have already had it.

Hope they hold on to #1 single though, it's looking more and more likely!

Has Harry closed the gap between him and little mix or is about the same as yesterday??

agree, and I know I've said this a million times but Mabel's album gets 2-3K every week from playlists while her album is not even top 1500 on Apple Music album streams,

which considers proper album streams not playlists. That's so wrong. And on the other hand, lots of indie/alt albums do pretty well on proper album streams

but get few streaming points cos their songs are not on playlists

and the Greatest Hits are even worst, nobody is streaming or buying Elton John's Diamonds, is not on the Apple top 1500, but you go stream any random Elton John song

and you give a stream to Diamonds, you stream from the This is Elton John playlist and you give a stream to Diamonds etc etc

Surely there will be lots of albums released "over the coming weeks", there have never been months without new releases, surprise or not. :P

I’ll reword it for you then ‘Hopefully we get lots of albums released that will sell decent amounts and boost the album market’

Do you think it's likely that 'WITHOUT YOU' will overtake '34+35' by the end of the week? The latter has currently peaked at #8 so hoping it can squeeze a new peak.

Hard to say right now, it's close! 34+35's peaked at #9 so far anyway so a new peak is looking good :heehee:

Get out my head is a basic song with repeated lyrics, quite annoying. Anything but that to overtake Little Mix although it deserves 2 weeks just to see everyone mad again.
