Maneskin at 98 with begging, thought kylie might be low top 100 today but not surprised she isnt.

What would Kylie be charting with?

Yes, Gaga is releasing a 10th anniversary edition of 'Born This Way' soon with a bunch of covers (we've also had Big Freedia covering 'Judas' and Orville Peck covering the title track, this one has done a lot better on iTunes obviously as it's a much bigger name)

Would it hurt the OCC to remove the ACR rule for songs older than three years that haven't charted in the top 100 before?

It's a shame to see Beggin' handicapped here when it never stood a chance of charting in 2017. What's the harm in letting older songs through that are new hits?

Will be interesting to see if any football songs other than Three Lions can make the top 40 this year, or if a new football song could ever take off again (presumably only with a helping hand from TikTok).

Surprised Ladbaby haven’t had an attempt at another musical masterpiece for the Euros...

Agreed in fact I don't see why they don't just junk the three year rule altogether tbh, I completely understand why it was introduced but unfortunately it has failed. Mr Brightside and his regular comrades are still omnipresent in the lower reaches of the chart and Christmas was still flooded by the usual suspects last year so what is the point in keeping an ineffective rule when it might be blocking things that are actually resurgent for a good reason/been properly noticed for the first time.

It doesn't seem to be too hard in practice for labels to get older songs blowing up for the first time reset to SCR (see Surf Curse, AURORA, BANNERS (they even got reset more than once lol) etc.), it's a bit of a shame that that doesn't appear to have happened for Måneskin. I do agree though that it's a fairly pointless rule especially as it seemed obvious it was meant to be targeting Christmas songs primarily but they are so dominant that it basically barely put a dent in their chart presence.
Nah but wouldn’t that mean ‘Perfect’ in the top 40 on a very regular basis. I think that songs that have less than 10 weeks on the chart should be on ACR irrespective of release year though so that Manneskin song would be ok. It could also showcase lesser known Christmas songs too.

so glad Garbage are in the top 3, hoping they could hold on to their top 5 placing by end of the week...

same for Jessie Waee, such an underrated album... pure perfection...

Only if it regularly has weeks of increasing streams by 25%.

If the 3 year rule is primarily an attempt to dampen down Xmas songs, then perhaps an automatic reset of songs of 3 years+ that haven't charted in the top 100 for 60 weeks would be an idea???

I'm not a fan of this 3 year rule.

The 3 year rule does serve a purpose at Christmas in that it gives new songs a fighting chance. Willow by Taylor would have made about #17 instead of #3 without it for example.

It also stops songs like Mr Brightside being reset in a sunny bank holiday week and then trolling the Top 40 for a period. ACR keeps it towards the lower end of the Top 100 where casual followers won’t notice it.

Totally agree it should be waived for songs that have not charted before though.

Is 3 lions on acr? Hope it doesn’t stick around for long don’t think I could bare listening to it get a chart show play 😂

It’s been released on 7” vinyl too so will be getting an extra boost this year :cheer:

I would have preferred the 3 year rule, if instead it reset songs after a period of absense from let's say the top 100 of something like 60 weeks. I like Xmas songs, at the right time of year, lol, and footie songs , so I ''m not a fan of the ruling, but get why it's there.
I would prefer no ACR at all and no three year rule. Every song should be treated equally

None of the new football track even top 100 on monday shows how irrelevant itunes is

Dont mind 3 lions reappearance just wish the lyrics would get updated its the 30 years ago that bugs me
