September 12, 20214 yr I'm not even a fan of Stay but the way it has dominated on Spotify and done well on AM, and what is the outcome... :( It's not really one of my favourites in the upper end of the chart atm but i'd rather see it get at least a deserved week at #1 considering how well it has held up than endless Ed Sheeran monopolisation.
September 12, 20214 yr Hope one my fav act mimi Webb hope she top 25 tomorrow knock out doja cat out Edited September 12, 20214 yr by Everton
September 12, 20214 yr Would Bad Habits still end at #1 this week if it wasn’t for ACR do we think? I had assumed so, but that 10,000 lead for Shivers is huge so it must be selling more than we expected based on its Spotify and Apple showing.
September 12, 20214 yr As far as the quality of the tracks, unpopular opinion but Visiting Hours is actually the best of the three and of course that's the one that's relegated to promo single. Not as bad as when he released the brilliant Cross Me and the British music listening public decided the trash that was I Don't Care and Beautiful People would make better #1's though. September 12, 20214 yr I'm not even a fan of Stay but the way it has dominated on Spotify and done well on AM, and what is the outcome... :( 'Dominated' is a bit of an overstatement, it is #1 yes but not by a huge margin. (And it's probably behind 'Bad Habits' when you combine all of its versions, not to mention it being behind even the main version of 'Bad Habits' on its own on Apple). ~ I'm sure 'Cold Heart' will drop a bit over the week but hopefully there shouldn't be any way it drops out of the top 10 entirely from #4 in First Look!
September 12, 20214 yr I reckon Drake could snatch #1 what with Shiver behind on Spotify and BH being on ACR
September 12, 20214 yr Drake is not making up a 5 digit gap, I'm not sure he's even going to overtake 'Bad Habits'.
September 12, 20214 yr Come through Elton/Dua hope it stays top 5. The less said about Ed the better… next ! Edited September 12, 20214 yr by Lukuzz
September 12, 20214 yr Ed’s new song is just massive and will grow and grow like bad habits. Ed knows how to write a chart hit whether you like him or not. I would like to see what Adele’s single when it finally comes out sells first week. Is she at danger of leaving all this that little bit too long?
September 12, 20214 yr 11 Central Cee - Obsessed With You 10 Billie Eilish - Happier Than Ever (as expected, Central Cee skipped as it was played as the hottest record at 6pm) Is there a HR on a Sunday now?

I would like to see what Adele’s single when it finally comes out sells first week. Is she at danger of leaving all this that little bit too long? It’s possible with Adele, the music buying scene has changed massively since 2015. If the material is as good as 25, then she has a good chance of being massive in a 2021 way.
September 12, 20214 yr I'm not even a fan of Stay but the way it has dominated on Spotify and done well on AM, and what is the outcome... :( A huge selling long running top 5 single!
September 12, 20214 yr I do worry for Adele a little could she turn out like Dido two huge albums then leaving it way too long and fizzling out?
September 12, 20214 yr 'Dominated' is a bit of an overstatement, it is #1 yes but not by a huge margin. September 12, 20214 yr I do worry for Adele a little could she turn out like Dido two huge albums then leaving it way too long and fizzling out? 3 huge albums surely x (I guess '19' wasn't quite as dominant at the time of its release as the following two albums but still) I expect the next Adele album will be less successful than '21' and '25', maybe by quite a lot, but I find it very hard to see her going straight from the heights of '25' to completely 'fizzling out'. The very fact that there's so much speculation about her possibly clashing with ABBA's album is a sign that the hype is still there for her. Was anyone really talking about Dido in the run up to her third album? (maybe they were tbf, I don't remember much about that era lol)
September 12, 20214 yr People weren’t really talking about Dido when the third album came. The download era had hit after her second album and she pretty much withdrew from the spotlight. There was certainly anticipation for the third album and on sites like this one people were predicting it could have been the biggest seller of the year but in the real world, you’d have barely known it existed. There was almost no promotion at all. I think there was a chance she could have had a massive return but I can’t be certain given that radio had turned it’s back on her, the album was distinctly personal and non commercial. Her father had passed away and you can see from the album how much that weighed on her coupled with the fact she completely withdrew from the public at the time. Smashing album though.
September 12, 20214 yr Dido was never as big a name as Adele especially in terms of tabloid attention and perceived personality. All this talk of Adele, yes she has great voice and is likeable but I thought the material on '25' was pretty average - the no.39 'Water under the Bridge' being the best single of the four. The previous 2 albums were justifiably massive though. I do think she has the name power that unless she releases an Ethiopian nose flute album or something it'll get to no.1 initially irrespective of quality.
September 12, 20214 yr Well yeah I don't think anyone's doubting she'll get to #1, it's more how well the album will do in comparison to her previous ones. There'll be a sales drop off for sure but I'd still bet it will end up being the biggest selling album of 2024 (or whichever year she happens to release it in!) Btw do we know that 'Bad Habits' is 100% confirmed to have hit ACR this week? Edited September 12, 20214 yr by Mangø
