Was the late 70s not just ‘punk’ as that’s when it originated/became big?

Always get mixed up as the post 1977 stuff is called post punk then New Wave was the more pop orientated bands that came after!

Not another sheeran chart topper 🤢
Y&Y has reduced physicals at their store and HMV - £4.99 for standard cd and £5.99 deluxe & cassettes
Tbf you do have a point with that last one. Ed Sheeran convincing LadBaby to do a sausage roll cover of his new Christmas song knowing he would essentially get a two for the price of one on the #1 slot seems more desperate than any of Westlife's tactics.

While I don't condone Sausage Rolls For Everyone happening, if I'd written a new Christmas song and got Elton to duet on it, I wouldn't be best pleased to then see it held off Christmas #1 by God Gave Sausage Rolls To You or whatever tired remake might have come next in the series if Ed hadn't intervened, so I see it a case of if-you-can't-beat-them-join-them.

Ed is lucky he wasnt out 20/25 years ago.

When you released a single and you promoted it.

There was no throw on a last minute remix _ Ed Feat Wally Wally Bang Bang or whatever it may be lol

Over 900 for Years and Years yesterday, 600 for Yard Act and 1.7k for 'Bat Out of Hell' (not sure what the stock situation has been for Meat Loaf but wouldn't surprise me if some of these were delayed sales).
To me it's more like "how to cut your legacy and respect among the pop audience half with 3 easy steps" but whatever

He's never got the respect of critics, been like that from day 1, so he cannot lose what he never had:D

There could be a twist or two yet

If the Meatloaf album was more widely available physically i think it would definitely go number 1, but even without physicals i think there is still a small chance it could happen.

Very valid point, I actually think it would be 2 or 3 thousand ahead.

But a great showing all the same and looking like a new peak.

Does anyone know why 2 bat out of hell 2,s are separate on the chart?

Also will the meat loaf and bonnie Tyler one stay in the main chart?

In the absence of a full ACR status update, here are the songs on DCL-2 and DCL-1 in the top 40 mids today

DCL-2 (a decline is needed this week for these to move to ACR)

Acraze feat. Cherish - Do It To It

Adele - Easy On Me

Ewan McVicar - Tell Me Something Good

SwitchOTR feat. A1 x J1 - Coming for You

DCL-1 (two more consecutive declines are needed, including this week)

Adele - I Drink Wine

ArrDee - Flowers (Say My Name)

Coldplay & BTS - My Universe

D-Block Europe feat. AJ Tracey - Make You Smile

Dermot Kennedy - Better Days

Ed Sheeran - Overpass Graffiti

The Weeknd - Take My Breath

Everything else in the top 40 is either too recent, had an increase last week, or already on ACR.

Blimey, just how many albums does meat loaf have in the top 40? Is it a record? I feel like only Michael Jackson had that much of his back catalogue in the top 40 after he passed. Hope he can hold onto a top 10 placing in the singles but I think he’s more likely to end up doing better on the albums.
Ouch at Young T & Bugsey’s album only appearing at #100! While their debut only got to the mid 20s, it had a couple of big singles on it. Nothing from this one has charted at all.

Prince had three in the Top 10 (2,3 and 4) when he died (6 in Top 40). David Bowie had 5 in the top 10 (1,3,5,9,10) 3 weeks after he died (12 in the Top 40 that week too)...

I'd quite like to see a Years & Years / Yard Act top 2 in either order, if only because I can't imagine there's ever been a top 2 before with both artists starting with Y.
