Which are your favourite songs named after a year? I've relaxed the definition a little for the years after 2002 as they're still central to the theme of those songs, so there are 15 to choose from!

Plenty of decent ones here, but I voted for 1963, 1980... and the two 1999s which have little chance of winning this.

1999 - Charli XCX (#13, 2018)

1999 - Prince (#2, 1985)

In The Year 2525 - Zager and Evans (#1, 1969) (kinda terrifying but fantastic)

Year 3000 - Busted (#2, 2003)

Estelle has my favourite here, 1980 is one of her best tracks  also love Anne-Marie - 2002 and Charli XCX - 1999 (and a bonus mention for Alec Benjamin - 1994 which obviously didn't chart but is great nonetheless x)

1979 by Smashing Pumpkins

and 1963 by New Order

obvs the worst of the worst being Anne-Marie-2002 :o

1963, 1980, 1985, 1999 (Prince), 1999 (Binary Finary), 2002, 2012, and then last and very much the opposite of least, Year 3000

Digga D can do one.

Snap with this exactly! 'In The Year 2525' was a great discovery from the #1 listenthroughs. 'Year 3000' is my overall fave though. (Also it wasn't a hit obviously but I prefer '2099' out of the two Charli/Troye collabs named after years)

The Estelle, Bowling For Soup and Jay Sean songs are decent too.

1998 is MUCH superior to 1999 by Binary Finary but love both.

In The Year 2525 is brilliant songwriting and a massive fave from the 60s.

And of course gotta give 2055 its sole vote, still rocking the avatar.

1992 by No_4Mat.

1901 by Phoenix.

These weren't top 40 hits so they don't fit the criteria

1998 is MUCH superior to 1999 by Binary Finary but love both.

Yes I would have said that but did vote for Binary Finary as that's by far the best track in this list. All time trance classic!

I voted for 1963 by New Order but had it been there I would have gone for '74-'75 by The Connells or maybe even Disco 2000 by Pulp... both were top 20 hits in 1995.
