5sos have added a signed art card to their bundle of 4 cassettes, not sure how helpful it will be but if they sold 1000 that would be 4k extra sales

Harry sold 6,680 last week - I'm sure DBE will add the 1.1k needed since yesterday to pass that. The others new entries could be overtaken if they're heavily frontloaded though.

Yeah, I can't see Craig David troubling the top three really. It's a shame because he's released a couple of decent songs from it so far.

But you are right about 5SOS. They are signed to their US division, whereas Mark is signed locally.

I hope Rina manages to hold on to a second week top 100 this week. Although she was only #60 in the Monday update. Once streaming etc is included she'll likely be out of the chart come Friday. She did BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge today, so maybe that will help a little.

 

Also hoping Lizzo's "2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)" can go top 20. It's continuing to climb on spotify/Apple Music.

I really don't get how 5SOS are on course to sell like 25% of what their last album opened with. Where has their fanbase disappeared to? Or is it that the previous album sales were inflated due to all the countless formats?

What was shady about them managing to sell albums to people who were willing to buy them? :P

 

Both 5SOS and Dua had sales tactics. I remember Dua did signed cards that weren’t sent out until a few weeks after.

 

People may have forgotten that 5SOS were ahead in every midweek update apart from the Thursday update. The midweeks may not have been completely accurate. 5SOS data was possibly not being submitted in a timely fashion because there were some delays with their store sending out the items. It should be noted that this release week coincided with the beginning of lockdown.

This campaign for this 5SOS release versus ‘Calm’ is totally different

 

They had a major chart battle with Dua and like her went all out to win - they slashed prices to £4.99 for cassettes and CDs (all signed) and vinyl to £15, they kept adding extras such as voice notes from a band members, signed postcards, posters etc.,

 

They were also on a different record label then and there seemed much more hype and album build up compared to this one too.

Sure it was yesterday too when I looked - all versions of David Guetta are 59p too.

I don't think that their sales dropping by like 80% can be entirely put down to the release strategy allegedly being different though (especially as they do still have plenty of formats again this time).
