this new presenter really needs to improve at interviewing, he's terrible

no questions about Kim Petras, about how the collaboration happened, lousy lousy job (again, he was also terrible at interviewing guetta last week)

It's been a long time since the entire Top 4 were current or former #1s (Christmas Eve in fact, and that included two Christmas songs which got there on a different chart run)

Forget Me has become the first song since 2019 to open with a 1-2-3 run too. Ariana Grande's break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored was the last one to do that, which went on to have a very satisfying run of 1-2-3-4.

That was their last #1 by themselves. They’re still credited as a lead artist on 2018’s "Promises"

oops my bad, completely forgot that existed tbf lmaoooo

Wasn’t aware they posted a sales update before 17:45 tbf

They posted the singles update just as the number 3 finished - it doesn't happen every week - last week they posted the album chart figures at 5.10pm but it wasn't updated until after 5.40 today.

I didn't post the gap for the number 1 until after Jack announced the number 1 and as someone asked whether it was a close race.

#47 Getting Started - so Sam Fender has now had 6 Top 50 hits and 4 from his current album.

Fascinating that he's had 6 top 50 hits but only 1 top 40

Wow Bad Habit got in the top 10? :o is everything okay in OCC land...??

No playlist payola, no samples - just 100% organic popularity *.*

Kim Petras snatching a #1 hit :deadbanana: what a strange sight indeed

The mods of this forum work hard to provide information in fully typed up posts for everyone to enjoy - it's perfectly reasonable to ask for patience so us mods can do our job. If you have an issue, please feel free to drop me a PM.

Not questioning what mods do/don’t contribute.

Likewise - a PM would have been appreciated for the midweek Music Week update and sales info that got deleted, it’s a chart forum to share and discuss information that becomes available from those outside of the mods that have access to Music Week and midweek information (often more that what is posted here), however I don’t share it because there seems to be some cloak and dagger over who can and can’t post information.

I think the point is that it's not a race to post the info. Mods post a longer update from Music Week that might take some time to type up, and that's assuming we see it immediately at 5:45. Most of the time we'll see it within ~15 mins and get the update up ASAP but your post arrived just three minutes after the scheduled time of the update going live, which meant there was no chance we could've got the full post up. There's no need to undercut the mods and do their job for them when they'll be on the case in no time, and whether that's the intention or not, it feels a little insulting. I'm sure you've intended to be helpful but a little patience is all that we ask so that we can make full use of the materials we all spend time preparing and setting up.

Did anyone have this on their 2022 bingo card??

* and also same with Bebe Rexha

Oh wow, so happy for Sam and Kim!

On paper before the song dropped I really thought it'd flop but I really enjoy the song and i'm so glad it's smashed straight out the park.

There is no ‘undercutting the mods’ - a small section of the midweek report was posted as an update prior to the full update from a mod.

I’m not sure why posting chart information on a chart forum is insulting to anyone when that’s what we are all here for, what is insulting is nobody bothering to contact me (and others) when information is removed to explain why - is that not part of the mod role?, if not then it should be as helps people understand ‘rules’ and avoids conflict.

Anyway I won’t post it again, I didn’t realise we all had to wait for a mod to give us information that is readily available to subscribers of MW, on 2 other sites and to those that get midweeks daily, it’s not BJ exclusive content after all.

The #1 turnover is definitely making things a bit more exciting again, especially since there's been some close run results as well. I would have been happy for that to continue, especially since the naturally assumed candidate for this week (Ed Sheeran) is actually a great track on first listen but early streaming data suggests that's not going to be the case.
Quite a good top 40 but the upper end of it, from about 15 upwards, is by far the worst / most boring imo

After it first hit #12 and started dropping again 5/6 weeks ago I'd really resigned myself to 'Bad Habit' just never going top 10 (especially as it had settled into a pretty stagnant position on Spotify and didn't seem to be making major gains anywhere else) so it's fantastic that it has eventually pulled it off especially after since hitting #12 and dropping a second time and then inching up to #11, the frustration would have been real if it peaked there. Easily one of the best top 10 hits of the year for me, it really just nails a certain vibe that's kind of difficult to place but it's the same thing I got from 'Meet Me At Our Spot' (albeit that one took a lot longer to grow on me, and I do like 'Bad Habit' a fair bit more). Funnily enough that also being a song that really took its time to creep into the top 10 of course! Looks like 'Bad Habit' also has a pretty good chance of finally hitting #1 in the US this week after several painful weeks of stalling at #2 so a big couple of days for Steve ~

Cool to see another new peak for 'Big City Life' too + very pleased to see Sam & Kim indeed entering at #1, I was pretty confident from the rate they caught up between Monday and Wednesday and then they seemed to be catching even quicker after that assuming the cited figure from Thursday was accurate so I'm not surprised that they ended up taking it by a moderately comfortable margin. I am enjoying the suddenly much more rapid #1 turnover but I wouldn't mind 'Unholy' hanging on for a few weeks, more than anything else I really hope 'I'm Good (Blue)' is left to just the one week.

I kind of forgot just how many #1s Sam Smith has amassed - funny that soon after back to back artists landing their first #1 and first hit of any kind in LF SYSTEM and Eliza Rose (+ Interplanetary Criminal), we've now had back to back artists getting their 7th and 8th #1s respectively! (Though both also bringing another artist their first #1 alongside them). And that jump from a #100 hit to a #1 hit for Kim Petras is just legendary, it feels so strange that she's suddenly out of nowhere a UK #1 artist after years of seeming like she was just going to be permanently an Internet niche artist. I find her stuff very hit or miss and her association with Dr. Luke is questionable at best but still quite proud to see her having such a success especially after her much publicised label drama earlier in the year.
