December 11, 20222 yr Its actually pathetic, I've hated this shit since the first year he did it, its nothing but a publicity stunt also I find it very embarrassing that they're doing all this just to be Tory supporters and he cheated on his wife too and they're playing happy families
December 11, 20222 yr Surely five is the end though? Where does it go after a Band Aid style ensemble and breaking the record outright for most Xmas No.1s. I'm actually surprised downloads are still so powerful that he can get to No.1 with such ease. I wish the public who buy these records would access their iTunes accounts the rest of the year too. There will always be some new record for him to equal or beat if the goalposts keep moving every year, this is the third year we've had that already. I honestly think they will only stop after they fail to get to #1. As i've already touched upon it seems to be an anomaly even where other charity records are concerned regarding the huge download numbers.
December 11, 20222 yr Absolutely hate this. 5 #1s is just far too much, it’s not like they’re ever gonna be remembered or played outside of that one week
December 11, 20222 yr Well everyone should download Wham! next week - I know I willAGREED! Lets get a Christmas #1 for a Christmas Classic. Donate £1 directly to the charity that LadBaby is supporting instead x
December 11, 20222 yr The pool of us chart geeks who could collectively decide to download another track in protest wouldn't make a dent if the Ladbaby sales are going to be on a par with the last couple of years. The wider public couldn't give a flying fig, it's not like the Rage Against The Machine days. The Kunts would make a good protest option, on more levels than just avoiding another shite sausage roll #1, but last year they were more than 80k behind #1. In fact the Kunts sales are probably on par with the optimum you can expect from any regular glorified charity donation single these days, except for Ladbaby which continues to baffle. Again, I just don't get it, the stats suggest a significant amount of people go out of their way to buy it year after year who don't under any other circumstances. WHY?
December 11, 20222 yr I mean if it was close in the Wednesday update then sure I’d happily download whatever was in contention. A couple of hundred downloads did actually help Wham! get over the line to beat Mariah when they made it 2 years ago but can’t imagine it will be that kind of situation even if LadBaby’s downloads are down on the last couple of years.

Gossip, gossip!! Yup, all for their profile, with a charity dressing on top. Charity grafters!!
December 11, 20222 yr Sure if the midweeks suggested something else was trailing less than 1k sales behind it, i'd be happy to download in protest etc... but I just don't see that being a realistic scenario. Even if Ladbaby sales are 50% down on last year that puts them ahead of what Wham or Mariah did last year by a strong margin. There's no new Christmas song that could potentially outperform like last year's Ed/Elton original, Raye or anybody else isn't suddenly going to be pushing 70k sales out of nowhere.
December 11, 20222 yr AGREED! Lets get a Christmas #1 for a Christmas Classic. Donate £1 directly to the charity that LadBaby is supporting instead x Yes, let's get Mariah to no.1!!!
December 12, 20222 yr Do you guys think LadBaby care more about the charity giving, or having as many Christmas #1s as possible?? It's definitely the later, in my opinion. Also, if I had the power to do so, I would transport LadBaby to Australia just like they did to petty criminals in the 19th century. Edited December 12, 20222 yr by daniellovesmusic
December 12, 20222 yr If only something else did actually beat Ladbaby then he might realise he can't coast to #1 in a dead Christmas market. I do think he's gone beyond the charity option now which is what it was to start with. Using charity to peddle his Sausage Rolls nonsense gets boring real fast too. What about China, they are still running pretty draconian lockdowns from what I hear, that should stop him from getting near a recording studio lmao.

I’ve conceded that people do still care about Christmas no.1 and accepted people throwing insulting words at my posts such a ‘silly’ and ‘strange’ without getting offended but this one is an absolute step too far. Deportation? No, I can’t stay quiet on this, you need something more important in your life to care about. The song is going to be crap. It’ll probably be Christmas no.1. Most of you won’t ever hear it outside the chart show, unlikely it’ll feature on the Top Of The Pops special, you can all move on with your lives the very next week. It’ll raise some money for a good cause but it won’t pollute the charts for weeks on end. I can’t say I know what the answer is to stop this from happening. It’s my opinion that streaming has killed the Christmas no.1 and it’s not worth caring about but I get that’s not good enough for everyone. But comments like this are worrying, maybe I’m confused and it was just in jest but it didn’t read that way.
December 12, 20222 yr Going by that poster's usual style it's probably tongue in cheek. The amount this site gets riled up every single year is absolutely hilarious, can't wait to hear his version of this. (Had to Google who Martin Lewis is though, a bit of a come down from Ed & Elton last year).
December 12, 20222 yr I find the Martin Lewis inclusion a little baffling - really surprised he wanted to do this!
December 12, 20222 yr Martin Lewis on Facebook Martin Lewis 12 h · When Mark and Roxanne (LadBaby) contacted me out-of-the-blue to ask if I’d join them in Food Aid I thought they’d confused me with someone else. The nearest I’ve ever got to thinking about a Christmas number one is going to the loo on Boxing Day after too much orange juice the day before. Yet once I knew they were serious, and it was for the Trussell Trust, a hugely important charity I’ve a history with, I decided to give it a go, and do it with gusto. This has been a tough year for many, prices have rocketed. Advice charities and food banks are swamped. Deficit budgeting is becoming more common – meaning even after everything has been cut to the bone – people still have less income than expenditure. It’s going to be a tough winter, and things aren’t likely to ease much in 2023. So the need to help and support people struggling across the UK is profound. Hopefully this Ladbaby song and their lyrics will raise some cash and awareness.
