First time hearing that Toccata song - pretty barmy, and in the middle sounds like the grave scene from Alan Partridge. All of which might have brought it close to my votes if I'd known it!

Two of my biggish scorers went out in that section. Country Girl, which is ace and was a pleasantly surprisingly big hit. And I Will Come To You, which is a massive guilty pleasure of mine and I'd have been pretty surprised if anyone else had voted for it!

Wow quite a lot of songs dropping out today - 'Red', 'Jive Talkin'', 'Sweet Dreams', 'Juicebox' and 'Red Blooded Woman' are my faves here as well as 'Toccata' which was another great discovery from the #1 albums sessions.

Céline Dion and Jon Secada both songs that have been answers I couldn't get in PopMaster recently and both out with 25 points

So many classics going out in that round - too many to list, but at least I didn't lose any this time! Shame to lose 'Red Blooded Woman' so early but I can see from another look through my list that there's at least one more Kylie song to come :)

Literally never heard of that 'Toccata' song but will have to give it a listen based on the comments above.

Leaving New York and Emotionless dropped out from my votes since I last posted, as I expected (although glad I wasn't the only voter for the former!). Juicebox and Red weren't too far off my votes either!

Jason Donovan - Nothing Can Divide Us

Katie Melua - Nine Million Bicycles

Odyssey - Native New Yorker

This was the first of four top 5 singles for Odyssey, including one number 1. The group are still going. Written by Mike Batt, Nine Million Bicycles was the biggest solo hit for Katie Melua. Nothing Can Divide Us was the debut single by Jason Donovan, the song had previously been rejected by Rick Astley.

Michael Jackson - Got To Be There

Bob Marley & The Wailers - Could You Be Loved

Tight Fit - Fantasy Island

This was the third of three top 5 singles for Tight Fit and the only one of them which was actually sung by the three singers who performed the song on TV. This line-up reformed in 2008 and released a new single as recently as 2021. Got To Be There was Michael Jackson's debut solo single. Bob Marley loses the second of his two songs.

Colour me amazed that Nothing Can Divide Us got that many points :o

The Bee Gees - Alone

Bob Dylan - Lay Lady Lay

Andrew Gold - Never Let Her Slip Away

Manic Street Preachers - You Stole The Sun From My Heart

The Supremes - Nathan Jones

Transvision Vamp - I Want Your Love

From 1978, this was the biggest hit for Andrew Gold who teamed up with Graham Gouldman in the 80s and had a hit with Bridge To Your Heart under the name Wax. The Bee Gees lose another song and have just one left now. Lay Lady Lay was the last of six top 10 singles for Bob Dylan with all of them in the 1960s.

Gene Pitney - Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa

Tinie Tempah featuring Zara Larsson - Girls Like

Written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, this was the first of ten top 10 singles for Gene Pitney from 1963 to 1967. He had to wait until 1989 for his only number 1. Girls Like is only the second song from the 21st Century to drop out today.

So now we're onto the section where at least two people need to vote for a song to get 31+ points! I overlooked 'It's No Good' by Depeches, should have voted for it!

Most of them from me :kink: I know it's cheesy as hell but that song evokes a lot of memories for me and I have a particular soft spot for it. S/A/W at their best.

I like the BeeGees and Manics tracks, but fewer big losses in this batch than in the previous one from my perspective. Though the Tight Fit song was quite enjoyable hearing for the first time!

'Native New Yorker' yet another PopMaster question I recently failed at haha.

Quite like both of the songs on 32 points (both very different though ) plus Bob Marley and the Manics (the latter being another #1 albums session discovery).

Haha! I have a similar affection for When You Come Back To Me

Surprised that You Stole The Sun From My Heart has gone out already, wasn't expecting it to go through but thought it would have more than that!
lots of classics dropping out, Jive Talkin, Native New Yorker, Alone, Nathan Jones, Got To Be There, Could You Be Loved, and especially 24 Hours From Tulsa and Reflections. Lodas more goodies though, including that Hanson song which was really under-rated I always thought. :)

Biffy Clyro - Mountains

Electric Six - Gay Bar

Eddy Grant - Electric Avenue (Ringbang Remix)

The Isley Brothers - Behind A Painted Smile

Livin' Joy - Don't Stop Movin'

From 2003, this was the second and final top 10 single for the group from Detroit. A remix of Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant reached number 5 in 2001, eighteen years after the original version got to number 2. The Isley Brothers appear here with a song which is perhaps not as well known as their other two top 10 hits.

Beyonce - Cuff It

David Bowie - Fashion

Eminem - Rap God

Paul Johnson - Get Get Down

Joe Jackson - It's Different For Girls

John Lennon and Yoko Ono with the Plastic Ono Band - Instant Karma

Neiked featuring Dyo - Sexual

Todd Terry featuring Martha Wash and Jocelyn Brown - Something Goin' On (In Your Soul)

Two fantastic songs from 1980 which got 15 and 14 points from me, It's Different For Girls was the highest charting single for Joe Jackson while Fashion was David Bowie's tenth top 5 single. If you include Destiny's Child, Beyonce had four songs with votes but they are all gone now.

Eurythmics - Thorn In My Side

Rihanna - Shut Up And Drive

From 1986, Thorn In My Side was the ninth and final top 10 hit for Eurythmics. Rihanna has only one single which peaked at number 5 and it appears here.

Losing lots of good songs now - Bob Marley at 30 points and David Bowie at 34 are the latest to drop out from my votes!
