The Beautiful South - Rotterdam

Chase & Status featuring Moko - Count On Me

Connie Francis - Everybody's Somebody's Fool

David Guetta featuring Sam Martin - Dangerous

Natalie Imbruglia - Smoke

The Jets - Crush On You

M People - Renaissance

Dannii Minogue - Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling

From 1996, this was the Beautiful South's first top 10 hit since their 1990 number 1 single, A Little Time. Also here are Connie Francis' US number 1 single from 1960 and the only top 40 hit for The Jets. Chase & Status and David Guetta both have one more song to come.

Drake - Emotionless

East 17 - Deep

Jordan Knight - Give It To You

Nick Kamen - Each Time You Break My Heart

Gary Moore and Phil Lynott - Out In The Fields

Wings - Hi Hi Hi / C Moon

From 1972, and featuring tambourine, xylophone and trumpet, this was part of a double A side for Wings. I know it much more than Hi Hi Hi as it's on the best of Paul McCartney and Wings album. I don't know which side WhoOdyssey was favouring with his 22 points or maybe he likes them both equally. From the 1980s, we have two former members of Thin Lizzy, Gary Moore and Phil Lynott, and model, turner singer Nick Kamen with his only top 10 hit.

Depeche Mode - It's No Good

Val Doonican - Elusive Butterfly

Eruption featuring Precious Wilson - I Can't Stand The Rain

Elyar Fox - Do It All Over Again

Tom Jones - Help Yourself

Ed Sheeran - Lego House

I didn't know a second video had been made for this Depeche Mode single. I'm only familiar with the one we played on the no.1 albums listenthrough last week. It's interesting that the second one has more than double the youtube views of the first one. Apart from Eruption's 1978 disco single, we also have four male singers from different eras. Elusive Butterfly was one of four top five singles for Val Doonican in the 60s.

The Darkness - Love Is Only A Feeling

Eminem featuring Dr. Dre - Guilty Conscience

Lady Gaga - Applause

Brian May - Too Much Love Will Kill You

Johnny Nash - I Can See Clearly Now

I couldn't fit this song into my vote so I'm glad that two people voted for it. It's Brian May's highest charting solo single. Another version sung by Freddie Mercury appeared on Queen's 1995 album, Made In Heaven. I Can See Clearly Now was a US number 1 for Johnny Nash in 1972. Lady Gaga loses the second of her two songs while Eminem has two more still left.

I thought Bob Lind's version of Elusive Butterfly (also a #5) was the definitive one.
Strong set going out at the 24 point mark. Maybe a little surprised I was the only voter for Johnny Nash. It's my mum's favourite song so I had to include it! I'm only familiar with the Freddie version of Too Much Love... that would probably have made my top 30. Eminem and The Darkness also weren't a million miles away.

A shame no one else voted for Eminem, a superb beat and a funny tale. It's definitely in a close run contest for my favourite of his alongside Lose Yourself and Stan, although the explicit version is so much better than the radio edit which is quite poor in comparison.

Rotterdam is also magnificent. I'd have thought I'd give it more but some serious competition in this, glad it picked up a reasonable amount of points elsewhere too

Omg I've lost FIVE of my songs in that round :o

Natalie Imbruglia - Smoke: this is absolutely stunning, I'm surprised more people didn't vote for it, I can only assume people aren't that familiar with it?

East 17 - Deep: I can't believe I was the only person to give this points - one of my favourite boyband singles of the 90s!

Jordan Knight - Give It To You: This snuck in right at the bottom for me with 1 point so I'm glad it picked up a few more, it was a great debut solo single for him after his NKOTB days.

Elyar Fox - Do It All Over Again: I absolutely knew I would be the only voter for this, he's long forgotten now but I've always loved it.

Brian May - Too Much Love Will Kill You: another stunning song, much better than Freddie Mercury's version IMO, there's way more emotion in this version.

Shout out to the Beautiful South, Darkness, Gaga and Chase & Status from that lot too. We lost a lot of great songs in this round.

I was the only one giving Eruption all 23 points, didn’t expect that! I thought the song was fairly known (or liked :kink: )
'Rotterdam (Or Anywhere)' and 'It's No Good' both songs that have been good discoveries for me from the #1 albums sessions. 'Dangerous' (one of Guetta's best songs, unlike his higher peaking Sam Martin collab) and 'Count On Me' other highlights from today.
Most of my pre 1970 picks I was the sole voter for as expected. Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool is very much a tune.
Smoke, It’s no Good and Rotterdam are all great, shame that they couldn’t make it
Aw I gave 'This Wheel's On Fire' all of its points  a brilliant 1960s TOTP discovery from the limited 60s episodes out there

doh! must have just missed my votes. it's brilliant.

I thought Bob Lind's version of Elusive Butterfly (also a #5) was the definitive one.

it's great, but Val's honey-voiced cover was the one that got the airplay and everybody loved him in the 60's. I didn't really hear Bob Lind's till the 70's...

Just listened to the Brian May version - it's gorgeous, would have probably made the +10 to +15 section of my votes if I'd known it

Destiny's Child - Jumpin' Jumpin'

Celine Dion - Because You Loved Me

Mis-Teeq - One Night Stand

Kylie Minogue - Red Blooded Woman

Primal Scream - Country Girl

Snakehips featuring Tinashe and Chance The Rapper - All My Friends

Jon Secada - Just Another Day

Smokie - Living Next Door To Alice

Sweetbox - Everything's Gonna Be Alright

I've learned two things I didn't know about this song. Firstly, it's a cover version. The original from 1972 is by New World. Secondly, the "Who The F**k Is Alice?" version was first recorded by a Dutch group called Gompie in 1995. Smokie re-recorded the song a few months later with Roy Chubby Brown and got to number 3 with it. Elsewhere, Celine Dion loses the second of her two songs while Kylie Minogue makes her first appearance, she has one more to come.

Appleton - Don't Worry

Hanson - I Will Come To You

Public Image Ltd - This Is Not A Love Song

Diana Ross and the Supremes - Reflections

The Strokes - Juicebox

Nina Simone - To Love Somebody

From 1983, this was the highest charting single for the Ireland Eurovision candidates. Both of Nina Simone's number 5 singles picked up points and the first appears here.

Ace Of Base - Don't Turn Around

Beyonce - Sweet Dreams

Corona - Baby Baby

The Drifters - You're More Than A Number In My Little Red Book

Go West - We Close Our Eyes

Jeremih featuring YG - Don't Tell 'Em

Milk and Honey featuring Gali Atari - Hallelujah

Shakin' Stevens - What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For

Shalamar - A Night To Remember

Britney Spears - Lucky

One of my favourite Eurovision winners, it was the second year in a row that Israel had won the contest. We Close Our Eyes was the only top 10 single for Go West and What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For was the last one for Shakin' Stevens.

Baby Baby is fab, shame to see it out so soon.

The Bee Gees - Jive Talkin'

CNCO and Little Mix - Reggaetón Lento (Remix)

Gwen Guthrie - Ain't Nothin' Goin' On But The Rent

Janet Jackson - Doesn't Really Matter

Daniel Merriweather - Red

The Rolling Stones - Tumbling Dice

Sky - Toccata

The Wonder Stuff - The Size Of A Cow

John Paul Young - Love Is In The Air

This adaptation of Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565, composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, was the only hit single for the British/Australian group. Love Is In The Air from 1978 was also the only hit for John Paul Young. The Bee Gees have five number 5 singles and four of them received votes. Jive Talkin' is the second to drop out.
