Adele - Send My Love (To Your New Lover)

Akon featuring Styles P - Locked Up

Melanie B - Feels So Good

Darude - Feel The Beat

Eternal - Power Of A Woman

Billie Eilish - Your Power

James Morrison - You Give Me Something

Sean Paul - Gimme The Light

Scooch - Flying The Flag (For You)

The Who - Substitute

Zayn featuring Sia - Dusk Till Dawn

From 1966, this was a fourth top 10 single for the band who never had a number 1. Also appearing are Scooch's memorable Eurovision entry, Darude's follow-up to Sandstorm and the first of two Zayn collaborations that received votes.

Leaving New York was a great single from a less great album by R.E.M. and the only loss from my votes today, although I hadn't spotted Substitute when shortlisting, definitely one of The Who's best.

Good tunes that have dropped out today: 'Living In A Box' (know this one via Todd in the Shadows), 'West Ten', 'Let It Rock' (probably hasn't aged well but I loved it at the time), 'Send My Love (To Your New Lover)', 'Gimme The Light', 'Dusk Till Dawn' and my favourite and probably the only one that might have made my top 30 the gorgeous 'Your Power'

My song of the day that I'm giving a listen now to continue plugging in musical blindspots is the Suede one - enjoying this one more than the Placebo track from yesterday, their hit rate for me continues!

Only a small handful of songs I could've given points to in that lot - 'Send My Love (To Your New Lover)', 'Gimme The Light', 'Electricity' and of course 'Dusk Till Dawn' (surprisingly the second Sia song in this rate not to receive any points from me!)

If you enjoyed that, check out its parent album 'Head Music' which is a pretty solid album - although it's not quite up there with 'Coming Up' which I would presume you're familiar with.

I love 'Keep The Faith', 'Big Big World' from yesterday's drop outs and Scooch & Vengas are guilty pleasure bops too plus Adele's is great too obviously.

Also a fan of 'Love, Sex & Magic', I Want To Make Love To You' & 'In This City' as well!

The only album I have heard by them in full is their most recent one (I actually don't think I'd ever heard anything by them at all before 'She Still Leads Me On' but am slowly discovering more older songs from them), I don't listen to old albums very often, or even old songs to be honest but I'm trying to make more of an effort with that this year i.e. occasionally checking out some old songs that pique my interest in threads like this

Well in that case, check out 'Coming Up', surely one of the finest albums of the Britpop era - although the fact that I love it may not bode particularly well for you

The Surfaris - Wipe Out

This classic 1963 instrumental was the only UK hit for the Surfaris.

A surf classic really.

I've read it was sampled in 32 songs. :o The most famous are from Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers and Fat Boys.

Alien Ant Farm - Movies

Edelweiss - Bring Me Edelweiss

Yvonne Fair - It Should Have Been Me

Using part of the melody from Abba's SOS, this is one of the barmiest top 5 singles ever. It's one of two one hit wonders here with Yvonne Fair's 1975 cover of the 1963 song by Kim Weston.

A-Ha - Stay On These Roads

Toni Braxton - He Wasn't Man Enough

Whitney Houston - Million Dollar Bill

Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Run The World

This was a reworking of the Tears For Fears song for Sport Aid in 1986. See how many famous 1980s faces you can spot in the video. !!! put Everybody Wants To Rule The World in his vote so I'm not sure if he was voting for this version or not but I'm including it here. Whitney Houston loses the first of her four number 5 singles and we have a fine song from A-Ha who have one left. I Just Wanna Live by Good Charlotte was another number 9 to appear on the number 5 list and someone gave it 18 points.

Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and The Trinity - This Wheel's On Fire

Professor Green featuring Lily Allen - Just Be Good To Green

Janet Jackson - I Get Lonely

Ironik - Stay With Me

Alicia Keys - Girl On Fire

10cc - Art For Art's Sake

U2 - Electrical Storm

The Woolpackers – Hillbilly Rock Hillbilly Roll

From 1975, this was the seventh of eleven top 10 singles for 10cc. There are two things on fire here, a wheel and a girl, maybe caused by the electrical storm. Three of the cast members of Emmerdale also appear here as the Woolpackers.

Aw I gave 'This Wheel's On Fire' all of its points  a brilliant 1960s TOTP discovery from the limited 60s episodes out there

Landscape - Einstein A Go-Go

Lady Gaga - Stupid Love

The Tom Robinson Band - 2-4-6-8 Motorway

Ian Van Dahl - Will I?

I lose two from my own vote with Einstein A Go-Go from 1981 and 2-4-6-8 Motorway from 1977. Lady Gaga's Stupid Love goes out but she was another song left. Two people voted for I'll Be There For You by the Rembrandts, giving it a total of 20 points, but it reached a peak of number 3.

Electrical Storm is the second and probably last song that only I voted for - the William Orbit mix is the definitive one, where the awake-at-4am ambience is sustained until the second chorus when the guitar cuts through everything.
Nothing out today that would have been anywhere near my top 30 (still largely on songs I haven't heard). My fave of the few I know - not counting Tears For Fears as I don't think I know that specific version of the song - is probably 'Million Dollar Bill'.

Agreed, the William Orbit mix of that is sublime!

Bring Me Edelweiss is iconic!

Yeah it's complete nonsense but I love it!

Looks like it's only me that voted for 'Just Be Good To Green'. Where's the taste Buzzjack?

I Just Wanna Live by Good Charlotte was another number 9 to appear on the number 5 list and someone gave it 18 points.

Not sure what Dan's excuse was with this one erroneously making it into the #5s list, did you misread 'Live' as 'Five'?

Bring Me Edelweiss is iconic!

THIS! It's a kind of song that makes me happy when I listen to.

Really don't know why Buzzjack prefer Hunting High and Low (a song probably qualified to the final here) to Stay on These Roads. The latter is so much better imo.
