Thanks to the 46 people who participated in last week's poll :jump:

Official results from week 2:

[ 28 ] Skrillex, Fred again.. and Flowdan - Rumble (#19)

[ 20 ] FLO - Cardboard Box (#76)

[ 18 ] NewJeans - Ditto (#95)

[ 4 ] Popcaan - We Caa Done (feat. Drake) (#61)

[ 3 ] Clavish - Traumatised (#63)

[ 2 ] Potter Payper - Blame Brexit (#75)

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 2 and auto-qualifying for the January monthly round is Skrillex, Fred again.. and Flowdan - Rumble.

A bit of a divisive one on here but the love seems to have outweighed the hate as it did get a vote from more than half of those who voted which is more than could be said for anything from week 1! It's two weeks in a row that the winning song co-credits 2 DJ/producers, this time the pairing of American Skrillex with the UK's Fred again.. (also crediting British grime artist and Roll Deep founding member Flowdan) with 'Rumble', one of two simultaneously released singles from Skrillex's forthcoming 2nd studio album. The song also contains uncredited vocals from Elley Duhé and BEAM and contains elements of several different electronic genres including dubstep and jungle. It became Fred again..'s first UK top 20 hit as a credited artist.

Going into this poll I predicted a possibly close race between Skrillex and FLO for the win but Skrillex ended up winning pretty easily while there was an unexpectedly close battle for 2nd place instead. BRITs Rising Stars and Sound of 2023 FLO ultimately prevailed but only 2 votes ahead of K-Pop rookies NewJeans who had been ahead of them at the time I voted in the poll! As it stands both will be through to the January monthly round. The other three contenders from last week were, as expected, also-rans picking up only 2 to 4 votes each.

Weekly winners to date:

01 // 12/01/23 // Sub Focus and Dimension - Ready To Fly

02 // 19/01/23 // Skrillex, Fred again.. and Flowdan - Rumble

9 songs competing for votes this week, totalling just over 28 minutes. Seems like a fairly obvious winner this week but the first two polls didn't quite go the way I expected so you never know... what we can say for sure is it won't be a third dance winner in a row, primarily because there aren't any dance songs this week.

Vote for as many or as few songs as you want and would be ideal if you can make sure you've heard all the songs before voting if possible!

After last week's poll being cut a bit short this one will be back to being open for a week and will stick to posting new polls on a Saturday evening from now on :jump:

Yay voted for the winner this time :cheer:

As for this week, I chose:

- Miley Cyrus

- Bizarrap & Shakira

- Lizzy McAlpine

I mean, it's hardly worth doing a vote this week because Miley's gonna win by a country mile!

lots of great ones this week! Miley probably has it in the bag, shakiras one is iconic, so glad sabrina finally entered, its such a bop.

and ofc i voted for mimi! such a great song from her and easily her best!

Miley definitely wins this week for me. Bizzarap & Shakira and Lizzy McAlpine's songs sound like they could grow on me (similar to Libianca from a couple of weeks ago), so I voted for those too.

voted for the top four:

1. Bizarrap x Shakira (8/10)

2. Miley Cyrus (7/10)

3. Lizzy McAlpine (6/10)

4. Fredo (6/10)

5. Mimi (5/10)

6. Clavish (5/10)

7. Sabrina Carpenter (4/10)

8. Taeyang (4/10)

9. Sam Smith (2/10)

First strong week of the year for new entries. Voted for Bizarrap x Shakira; Miley; Lizzy; Mimi and Sabrina.

VIBE and Gimme were ok, but nothing I would choose to listen to. VIBE sounds like a 90s Disney film end credit song.

1 'Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53' - think this may be topping 'Rumble' as my new favourite new hit of the year so far although that may be partly just because it's always exciting to see a Latin hit doing so well in the UK especially when it's actually good x Seriously though Shakira sounds fab on this, the chorus sounds euphoric and the production is excellent throughout all of the various sections and switchups, great stuff. Half tempted to give out a 10 already but cautiously sticking to 9.5/10

2 'ceilings' - first time hearing this just now, much more lowkey than the other song I'd heard from this album but I think I like it more, reminds me a lot of Phoebe Bridgers except it's clicking with me more than anything I've heard from her to date. Think it'll grow on me more but am already getting behind it 8/10

3 'Flowers' - this is thankfully growing on me a bit as I hoped it would, idk if it's ever likely to become a huge fave for me but starting to see the hype a bit more now (would have been like a 6.5/10 on first listen), think it is going to prove to be quite an earworm and I like the strings + the post-chorus refrain part quite a bit, Miley's voice also sounds great on it in general 8/10

4 'Red Flags' - her best hook to date both instrumentally and melodically, unfortunately still let down as a song overall by the 'baby's first toxic relationship song' level lyricism and still some parts where her vocals don't sound great, she is improving though, this and 'Ghost Of You' have been her 2 best hits to date, hopefully she'll strike gold soon like Tate McRae did with 'she's all i wanna be' 6.5/10

5 'Dave Flow' - was hoping this would be more interesting than it was based on the title, doesn't sound much like Dave at all, just another Fredo song. I liked 'I'm Back' more. This one has an ok beat and flow but very few memorable lyrics, my main takeaway is him saying he'd be a virgin if he wasn't rich lol 6/10

6 'No Difference' - a step down from the quality of last week's Clavish song but it's still probably his 2nd best charting song to date, he found a decent enough hook there, although it gets a bit tedious by the end of the song especially as the verses aren't really much different to the hook. Subject matter is still boring as usual from him though, he just sounds like a less engaged Digga D 5.5/10

7 'Nonsense' - sounds like a rather mid Ariana Grande album track and a few cringeworthy lyrics. At least it's a lot better than 'Skin' though 5/10

8 'VIBE' - last week's K-Pop entry was a breath of fresh air. This week's is not. zzz 3/10

9 'Gimme' - the first true stinker of 2023's chart intake, shame as I really liked 'Unholy' but this is not it at all, one of the most annoying choruses of... any song I can recall hearing any time in the last few years frankly, Jessie Reyez has had some good songs in the past but this is not a flattering way for her to make a chart debut. Sam's parts are fine if not particularly engaging, instrumental is pretty boring. Gets an extra point for Koffee trying her best to salvage it with a pretty good feature but it can't save the song which is a total non-starter from the hook alone 1.5/10

Only voting for the top 3 this time, not as strong overall as the first 2 polls.

Flowers, Red Flags & Bizurrp. The rest are mostly trash especially that excruciatingly annoying Sam Smith song.

  1. Very Good (8/10)
  2. BZRP Music Sessions Vol. 53
  3. Flowers
  4. Ceilings

    Solid (high 7)

  5. Nonsense
  6. Vibe
  7. Dave Flow

    Decent (7/10)

  8. Red Flags
  9. No Difference

    Okay (6/10)

  10. Gimme

My ranking for last week:

Miley Cyrus - Flowers (#1)

Mimi Webb - Red Flags (#23)

Bizarrap and Shakira - Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 (#31)

Sabrina Carpenter - Nonsense (#69)

Fredo - Dave Flow (#30)

Clavish - No Difference (#57)

Lizzy McAlpine - ceilings (#82)

Sam Smith - Gimme (feat. Koffee and Jessie Reyez) (#60)

TAEYANG - VIBE (feat. Jimin) (#96)

Voting for the top 3 ^_^
