Thanks to the 46 people who participated in last week's poll :jump:

Official results from week 7:

[ 22 ] Linkin Park - Lost (#18)

[ 17 ] Paramore - Running Out Of Time (#74)

[ 14 ] Jax Jones and Calum Scott - Whistle (#100)

[ 13 ] Lizzo - Special (solo / feat. SZA) (#66)

[ 11 ] Mae Stephens - If We Ever Broke Up (#45)

[ 10 ] Ice Spice - In Ha Mood (#79)

[ 9 ] Lovejoy - Call Me What You Like (#32)

[ 7 ] Central Cee - Me & You (#31)

[ 6 ] Luke Combs - Love You Anyway (#62)

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 7 and auto-qualifying for the February monthly round is Linkin Park - Lost.

There were no overwhelming favourites this time as the winner fell one vote short of half of the voters, but it is another rock winner as American nu metal legends Linkin Park who had the highest new entry of the week also top this poll. 'Lost' is their first new release since the sad death of their frontman Chester Bennington and is a previously unreleased track from the recording sessions of their 2003 album Meteora, finally seeing the light of day in the run up to a 20th anniversary reissue of the album. It may have been over 5 years since Bennington's passing but the fan demand for posthumous material was still clearly strong as it became something of a surprise top 20 hit, giving the band their highest charting single since 'We Made It' with Busta Rhymes got to #10 in 2008.

Another 00s-debuting rock band take second place as Paramore's latest single, released concurrently with their new album, land 5 votes behind Linkin Park. (Continuing a theme of acts that made their chart debut in the 00s doing very well in these polls in general so far, following wins for Miley Cyrus, Fall Out Boy and P!nk). The rest of the week's new entries were fresher faces. Despite the fairly low scoring winner this poll had a record matching six songs receive double figures of votes, with Jax Jones and Calum Scott coming third, Lizzo (with or without SZA) fourth and newcomers Mae Stephens and Ice Spice fifth and sixth (covering a nice range of genres between them). Luke Combs is 2 for 2 on coming last in these polls but he did get 1 more vote than he did with his previous hit, and 6 is the highest the bar has been for the lowest scoring song of the week so far.

Weekly winners to date:

01 // 12/01/23 // Sub Focus and Dimension - Ready To Fly

02 // 19/01/23 // Skrillex, Fred again.. and Flowdan - Rumble

03 // 26/01/23 // Miley Cyrus - Flowers

04 // 02/02/23 // Fall Out Boy - Love From The Other Side

05 // 09/02/23 // P!nk - TRUSTFALL

06 // 16/02/23 // RAYE - Ice Cream Man.

07 // 23/02/23 // Linkin Park - Lost

Qualified for the yearly round:

January // Bizarrap and Shakira - Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 / Miley Cyrus - Flowers / Sub Focus and Dimension - Ready To Fly

Qualified for the playoff for the yearly round:

January // Fall Out Boy - Love From The Other Side

There are 11 new entries this week which I believe is the most to date. Like last week though there is 1 extra song on the Spotify playlist - the new entry at #63 is billed only to Rushawn and Jermaine Edwards on the OCC website but it has several versions available to stream which I believe are all combined and all of them credit one additional artist. It's unclear which one, if any, is meant to be the 'main' version. I've decided to just include the Prinz and TRINIX versions, the former has a music video out and seems to be the most popular one on Spotify while the latter is apparently the most popular one on Amazon and also not far behind on Spotify. Feel free to vote based on either version again. Or one of the other versions if there are any you particularly like. x (Additionally the Lil Uzi Vert entry is also a remix, but the original version has not actually been released for whatever reason so it's only the remix that features here).

With that, and Lana Del Rey providing the longest hit of the year so far, the playlist this week clocks in at 37 minutes and 9 seconds. (Lana's is somewhat balanced out by Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners providing iirc the shortest hit of the year so far). I'm not yet sure which song I'll be judging people most for voting for, will wait to see Julian's votes for a hint :funky:

Vote for as many or as few songs as you want and would be ideal if you can make sure you've heard all the songs before voting if possible!

You have until Saturday evening ish as usual :jump:

Sorry the thread is a bit late this week oops, shall try and be more on the ball again next week x I'm sure people don't actually need the thread to be open for a full week anyway. The February monthly round will also go up after this week, that's come around quickly ~ but then March will be the first month of the year with 5 charts instead of 4.

I considered just voting for Lana, but beabadoobee gets my vote too as it's the best thing I've heard from her, at least since 'coffee'. I was just starting to find 'Evergreen' interesting and the song finished

Lana currently facing a tie with Payola Horan in this poll?

What in the ageusia? Are y'all suffering some long covid or something.

Voted for beabadoobee, Lana, P!nk and NF. Excited to find out if I’m being cancelled again - I think the latter is the only potentially iffy pick though! ;)

Niall Horan - Heaven (#18) - very good! strong hook

beabadoobee - Glue Song (#38) - dull as f***

Lana Del Rey - A&W (#41) - decent but not worth its length

P!nk - When I Get There (#44) - na this isn't it

NF - HOPE (#48) - thought we left this guy in 2018? this is surprisingly great though!

D-Block Europe - Barbie (#49) - wouldn't play it again

(Prinz / TRINIX), Rushawn and Jermaine Edwards - Beautiful Day (Thank You For Sunshine) (#63) - LOLling at the liam gallagher-esque sunshiiiine, but that's all

SZA - Low (#83) - oh this is a good'un, best i've heard from the album after i just killed my eggs

Lil Uzi Vert - Watch This (ARIZONATEARS Pluggnb Remix) (#86) - not enough substance

Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners - Evergreen (#88) - at least it was over quickly

Caity Baser - Pretty Boys (#91) - like this! very kate nash

Voted for Niall, NF, SZA & Caity.

Well I did compare part of that Falling In Reverse song to NF :basil: (think his music is usually a bit corny and not really my thing but not terrible x)

What an utterly abhorrent set of New Entries

Niall, by default.

I went for Niall, Beabadoobie, P!nk, Lana and Caity. The last one is admittedly very basic but undeniably catchy. NF was a bit too all over the place for me.

Just voted for Lana this week - 'A&W' is easily my favourite new entry in the top 100 this year so far

01. Lana Del Rey - A&W (#41)

02. beabadoobee - Glue Song (#38)

03. Lil Uzi Vert - Watch This (ARIZONATEARS Pluggnb Remix) (#86)

04. SZA - Low (#83)

05. Niall Horan - Heaven (#18)

06. Caity Baser - Pretty Boys (#91)

07. P!nk - When I Get There (#44)

08. Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners - Evergreen (#88)

09. NF - HOPE (#48)

10. (Prinz / TRINIX), Rushawn and Jermaine Edwards - Beautiful Day (Thank You For Sunshine) (#63)

11. D-Block Europe - Barbie (#49)

Thought I was going to hate 'Pretty Boys' when it started but it grew on me as it went along, indeed a bit Kate Nash

1. beabadoobee - Glue Song

2. D-Block Europe - Barbie

3. SZA - Low

4. Prinz / TRINIX), Rushawn and Jermaine Edwards - Beautiful Day (Thank You For Sunshine)

5. NF - HOPE

6 .Lana Del Rey - A&W

7. Lil Uzi Vert - Watch This (ARIZONATEARS Pluggnb Remix)

8. P!nk - When I Get There

9. Caity Baser - Pretty Boys

10. Niall Horan - Heaven

11. Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners - Evergreen

I voted for my top 3 but 'Glue Song' is by far my #1 track of the week. I could have easily just voted for that. 'Barbie' and 'Low' are both just decent entries from their respective aritsts.

Everything from 4-8 is alright. 'Pretty Boys' is rubbish but at least it's not painstakingly dull like the bottom two.

I've broke the tie in Lana's favour so you can close this now :D

not a great week for new entries mind even with there being a choice of 11. Beabadoobee is my 2nd favourite and CBA to rank the rest of it.
