March 4, 20232 yr To be clear we didn't think there was anything inherently wrong with invite PMs being sent to people. Just that they were sent to a few too many people (including people receiving multiple messages even after declining the first time) and a slight concern that people might end up entering the contest as a 'favour' rather than genuinely being interested in joining (as spiceboy pretty much directly admitted to). But it's fine, the contest survived and of course we're always happy to see new and returning countries and hoping at least a few of those who debuted or returned this month will stick around. Though I expect numbers will rebound back down to more normal levels next contest and there will definitely be at least a few people who will be grateful about that :kink: We're not making this an ongoing issue, it was what it was and we're moving on ~ Again not to labour the point but I just wanted to say I am in agreement to all of this and I am also happy to move on, and as promised I won’t be engaging in these tactics again (it was never to acquire personal points of course just for the record). But on Bré’s note there, yes I too hope some will have enjoyed their experience enough this month to want to return again unprompted in the future but of course you can come and go as you please there’s no strict adherence to have to participate every month and if you want a break it is of course allowed. ^_^ I won’t bring it up again in the future. One more time, let’s all congratulate Chez on an incredible win, it was well deserved and sorry I didn’t quite put you on my podium! ;)
March 4, 20232 yr Holy shit what a fantastic result, I never imagined seeing my own top 2 as the actual top 2, it may well have happened before but I can't remember it doing so ever. Best result in a long time x Seriously, huge congratulations Chez, it instantly stood out to me as a highlight and I've played it a lot over the past weeks, the little gaspy vocals, the overbearing instrumental is beautiful and I've sent stuff that it reminds me of in some ways before (it does sound a little sewerslvt-esque to my ears, maybe not the tracks I've entered but others by her), that I've hugely loved so maybe one day huh.... And a little like Parmi Est Mortels too, which it's easily the best winner since x And of course fantastic to see you finally get a win! Rontvia in second is great too, I figured that would be up there but I didn't see Terra coming at all - and yeah it's exactly what I described, hugely powerful song that could have easily won another contest, I almost switched the two around they were that good, I love it's not only my top 2 it's my strongest top 2 in ages. Surprised Aelandor didn't do much better honestly, that sounded so strong. Great to see Altyr and N DNTN top 10 as well though. Thank you everyone who gave me points, I was expecting roughly this as it didn't seem like there was any great hype for my entry, but it is a banger so especially thank you to those medal points Greenfroze, Trifoski and Pupok
March 4, 20232 yr Author I'm actually stunned Jupiterdonia and Botanikka are that low :o I would've had those both down as top 10's normally oops. Especially Kimbra. Okay she was over predicted obviously but in no way did I think down that far. In fact I thought no lower than maybe 6 or 7. Baffling stuff.
March 4, 20232 yr I'm sorry for not voting, someone close to me passed away and I just didn't remember to vote with everything happening. But despite my sad news, I have to say congrats to Chez for the win! I hope, if you decide to take on hosting duties, that your contest is amazing!

But despite my sad news, I have to say congrats to Chez for the win! March 4, 20232 yr TERRA! over the moon for them, it's not every day you see the bridesmaid curse being broken (i believe N DNTN were the last ones to do it almost 9 years ago)
March 4, 20232 yr Congrats Chez…I didn’t vote for it but delighted for you to finally join the winners circle. Big clap to hosts, you guys did amazing job and you actually made the contest very exciting. And Elodie deserved better but it was a strong final so it is what it is. Looking forward to Terra Avium contest :cheer:
March 4, 20232 yr Well done Chez! About time and actually one of my favourite entries of yours of recent times so, with that in mind, I’m not surprised it crossed over so well. Another bloody 3rd place! Nah, super happy with that as this entry felt a bit more out of my safe wheelhouse than often. That painful gap between 2nd is CRUEL after leading for a while at the end but a podium is a podium! My ability to appeal to the silent crowd never fails to catch me off guard, I feel like I’ve seen so little hype compared to the top two (which is definitely shown in the amount of excitement over the end top two ) but the likes of Mack, Nick F1, popchartfreak etc. surprised me in a lovely way so thank you for all of the votes! Disappointed to see Republique d’Askorza only just hit top 20, definitely my favourite of this year so far - the best MF entry that was never an MF entry! And the hosting from start to back has been nothing short of a delight! Both of you really showed your love for the contest and it’s been one of the most memorables one we’ve had for sure. So well done guys and I’m so glad you chose to take it up this time, Rob!
March 4, 20232 yr Author Right. Now I can comment on some of the others  fantastic top 2 right there *.* I did change the order around but had no idea that Rich hadn't been doing so well until the 50 votes mark so maybe a little misjudged there but then again it was worth it for the sudden leap into the high end. I'm so happy Rich decided to keep his entry as he was considering (or joking about to me on Facebook) changing his entry to which I said nooo he shouldn't as it's a very interesting entry and I'm pleased that it was realised in coming 2nd but Terra's was also excellent too so either way round top 2 of those two would have been great for me and I'm happy Terra finally have that win after such an looong amount of time. Nice to see Kaleena Zanders in 3rd also. Big retribution after myself sending her in early 2016 and DNQing. I did have that pegged as doing better than Aeroche tbh which it did as this sounded very him too lol. Cody was another I saw as a winner and happy to see top 5. Pleased to see Pupok return and with a top 10 to boot already! Aeroche would have made a good return to their winning ways with this so surprised a little it only finished at 14th. Spod deservedly finishing top half *.* what a great older discovery that was (minus the spider 'shudders') and Dan 19th feels a bit low as initially I could see a case for that being top 10 at the very least but again that was more the 11 minutes one than the edit lmao. Buzzjack Mountain I expected a tad higher than 29th but still a win that it wasn't bottom 10 after us trying to get him to vote as it was worth it  Florina and Singerpurear were ones I also tipped to do well but underperformed a bit in the end too as we're the already aforementioned Botanikka and Jupiterdonia who certainly didn't deserve to be that low at all especially Jupiter.. coming lower than Rebecca Black last month when this is much superior  I guess we did over predict it but no way did I think it'd come as low as 31 :/ Yobnedorcia slaying out of the bottom 5, just I see. I understood it was very basic and the Dr Luke production but it would have been in my next few outside of my commiserations so I feel that's still not bad a result although could've been better. Alessandro 40th I guess it was only going to do as much sadly but thank you Wardy for such an diverse entry as were the other oldies sent this month! Oop at 'EMERGINCIA' 3rd from last. Not so WOWWWW :'( and 10th for myself *.* thank you all who voted for it. I do admit I did think if anything I thought this one would be one of those that's get lost in the mix so pleasantly surprised it managed to clinch top 10 for me. Going 1-1-10 in the past 3 months is fab! I did consider the A.G. Cook Remix tbh but the pointless noise in the middle for 4 minutes wasn't necessary and the original is good for me so finally decided to use it after sitting on sending it for a good 6 or so months. Lastly thank you all for the nice words and whilst I still need to sit down and have a spreadsheet lesson I think as I'm still very new to how the quickened route for these things are, I'm glad it was still a enjoyable experience and I did make up by working hard on the stuff I was doing and again thank you to Sovarasma as you were phenomenonal from start to finish with the fancy graphics, recap videos, listen throughs and spreadsheets. Fantastic partner in crime and I think very soon we'll need a Sovarasma run contest on their own too! Wow, now I can breathe lmao. Congrats again Terra Avium :cheer:
March 4, 20232 yr Ooh thanks everyone that voted for Singerpurear and the early excitement Rob, ha that was funny to see us on top  Fab contest everybody, enjoyed it a lot loads of great entries. Great hosting Uhsting & Rob and thanks for all the hard work! 16th is a new position for us, (I think) and it did pretty well, always enjoy seeing fab non-hyped tracks do well at the top end. There's always a silent block that love a quality "radio 2" pop/dance tune as well as the shout-out edgier stuff :teresa: :D Special thanks to the big pointing nations for Eloise, and Gold pointers FARC, Cor Lupus, Harmonica and bronzes Altyr, Lotunia, Yobnedorica we like to think it's the next James Bond movie theme and have some hugs n kisses! Well done Chez, and is this really your first win?! Wow, long overdue, could have sworn you'd been up there a couple of times. I know Rich has so top 2 is no surprise. My fave track at 3 is a great result, fab entry Rob-bot!
March 4, 20232 yr Congratulations to Chez on finally getting a well deserved first win and thanks to the two hosts for all the work they have put in over the last few weeks.
March 4, 20232 yr omg just caught up!!!! Congrats terra and thank you to roba and uhsting for amazing hosting  I’m so pleased w top 10!!
March 4, 20232 yr Author I did forget about this from Kyriatine but figured to post it anyway not that it effects anything of course. Ojnoj would have probably made the top 10 had it counted though oops Hey Rob, I know the deadline is up and you are by no means bound to accept my votes anymore but I figured I'd give them a listen anyway at work and found the time to actually rank them (hadn't heard any of the Semi 2 songs so it took less time than expected). I'm not expecting or trying to the avoid the ban as I understand that this is no one's fault but my own, but since I have my votes ready I might as well send them to you. It's completely up to you whether you include them or not, but for completeness' sake I couldn't not do this when I realized I could. Anyways, here are the Kyriatine votes. 18. Ojnoj ◆ Josie Man - unbreak ur heart 15. Bøtanikkä ◆ Elodie - Ok. Respira 13. Jadakissnia ◆ Joanie - Kerosene 12. Cor Lupus ◆ LOWES - Game Of Love 11. March 4, 20232 yr Just caught up on the full thread after a skim through last night, so excuse the late rambling post. That's an excellent top 5, all of whom got my vote except Voryva in second but I'm pleased to see such an epic entry do so well, and I'm pleased Game Of Love made it that high as that was climbing my personal chart before the contest began (I very nearly gave it its only 18 too). Most of all though, congratulations Chez :cheer: delighted to see you achieve a long-awaited win! My secret hope was to improve on my 26th place debut last time out, and in retrospect, by not following the thread in real time I was spared watching my entry languish around 39th place for most of the evening. Only a full house of votes from the last five, including silvers from Jacob and Whoddy and a bronze from dhwe to follow the one from Snake's vote earlier, lifted me up to a new high of 23rd - thanks for those medals and the 20 other votes! No repeat voters from last time though - I guess the pop crossover appeal was found wanting - and once again qualification was way too close for comfort with a 3 point margin, so thanks especially to the silvers from Jade, Pete and Suede plus a bronze from Mart!n pushing me over the line there! Ultimately I'm delighted to have taken my entry this far (despite its ten-word title) as it's a song which has become an enduring favourite of mine over the last few months. Thank you so much Rob(a) and Jack (uhsting) for hosting this contest, you've done a fabulous job! Edited March 4, 20232 yr by jimwatts
March 5, 20232 yr I'm sorry for not voting, someone close to me passed away and I just didn't remember to vote with everything happening. But despite my sad news, I have to say congrats to Chez for the win! I hope, if you decide to take on hosting duties, that your contest is amazing! So sorry to hear that too, I hope you are doing OK, and people are rallying round each other, loss is never easy but it helps having others to help support.
March 5, 20232 yr Yehesi points was not on our bingo card for this evening, let alone a bronze medal. :o Yehesi giving 13 to Wardy, unexpected but great to see! Luna actually was a big hit in The Netherlands when I was around 6 or 7 years old. It's lowkey iconic and very nostalgic for me
March 5, 20232 yr I hadn't really paid attention to Hikaru Utada for years so to be reintroduced to her with 'Somewhere Near Marseilles'... damn, it's been a long time since I have listened to something that feels like it was made just for my tastes. Anything vaguely reminiscent of Roisin Murphy and especially Mirwais sounding puts me in an immediate tizzy. Thanks N DNTN! (Justice for Tim Hecker) To be clear we didn't think there was anything inherently wrong with invite PMs being sent to people. Just that they were sent to a few too many people (including people receiving multiple messages even after declining the first time) and a slight concern that people might end up entering the contest as a 'favour' rather than genuinely being interested in joining (as spiceboy pretty much directly admitted to) Ha, I would say this applies to me as well. I had the third message on the deadline and just came up with a country and sent the first song I came across. I didn't really understand the rules or have enough free time to properly engage with this contest but hopefully next time will be different.
