Yeah they do. But I don't see the same vitriol aimed at the Stones for milking the fans like Kylie, Taylor etc.

To be fair I don’t think the majority of the users that bring up Taylor and Kylie’s multiple variants do it because they are bothered, but more because of the ones who are so quick to slate Ed Sheeran for using what he can to chart well… 🤷‍♂️

I’m don’t slate either btw I think go for it give the fans what they want.

Looks like Cher is going to fall down fast, I thought she would challenge for top 5. Perhaps quite a few people like me putting it on Xmas lists instead.

I love Cher and her back catalogue but I'm not sure she'd be the best singer of Christmas carols. I'd feel her version of Silent Night or any carol would sound like a Jack parody from Will and Grace...

Have you even listened to her album or at the very least taken a look @ its tracklist?

She isn't singing Christmas carols. Far from it.

I don’t know why multiple formats is even a discussion point now - it’s literally the norm and 99% of artists do it every week to some extent.

As I’ve always said artists can release 20+ versions week in week out but they still need to have a willing fanbase ready to snap copies up and invest in personally signed ones etc.,

From the OCC.

Hackney Diamonds

It would mark the 14th UK Number 1 album for Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, and their first since the death of long-time drummer Charlie Watts in 2021. Only The Beatles with 15 Number 1 albums would have more.

The Rolling Stones (13)*

With eleven Number 1 albums to their name (thirteen including the reissues of Exile on Main Street titled as Exile on Main St and Goats Head Soup titled as Goat's Head Soup), The Rolling Stone have definitely tasted their fare share of success.

*Including reissues of Exile on Main Street and Goats Head Soup, which were classified as new Number 1s due to the volume of new material present and formats available.

So why does this criteria not apply to other artists?

Or is it because the albums were issued on different labels with different catalogue numbers?

One good thing about Xmas songs climbing in the charts is that it helps the deadwood go to ACR quicker
crazy figures for The Stones!!! already over Guts first week
Cher falling from 10 to 23 in two days :-(

Strange as it increased on Amazon during the last 2 days and was stable on iTunes. There needed to be more formats released although more may come out in the run up to Christmas.

I mean, they could certainly do something more exciting with the vinyl (although Christmas albums have a limited shelf life) but there are 5 variants to buy at the moment.

Standard CD

Standard CD (HMV Exclusive Sleeve)

Standard CD (Amazon Exclusive Sleeve)

Standard CD (Webstore Exclusive Sleeve)

Red Vinyl

I’m sure it’ll pick up from mid-November onwards if they promo some tracks from it and get her on Christmas playlists.

Holding up well on Amazon and especially iTunes is largely meaningless if you're doing bugger all on streaming.
