December 18, 20232 yr There was discussion here at the time that the reason for River's manipulation was that the OCC were determined to stop Mariah going to number 1 although she finally did the following year. 100%!!!!!

December 18, 20232 yr And that was always complete bollocks :P Yes but why let the truth get in the way of a good Buzzjack discussion?
December 18, 20232 yr wouldn't work on Spotify cos the issue is not having exclusive songs not even having them as track #1 on a playlist if Spotify'd put a exclusive as track #1 on their playlist the effect would be negative cos people would start directly with song 2 the problem is that Alexa doesn't follow a playlist, Alexa plays whatever she feels like, and it's not only that it gives priority to the exclusives, the big issue is that it plays them on a loop of course I'm exaggerating a but with the Ellie example but that's how they managed, pure and simple. it's not about being exclusive, being #1 on a playlist it's about Alexa playing targeted songs on a loop in a repeated pattern ypu cannot do that on Spotify Exactly this. Amazon have continued to get away with this year in year out, presumably because the OCC either are happy that these are counted, or turn a blind eye to it, or (more likely I think) can't identify songs played multiple times in a loop like this. As long as this continues, these Amazon exclusive songs have a huge advantage over most Christmas songs, adding to the advantge they already have with being on SCR and therefore their streams counting double those on ACR.

December 18, 20232 yr 1 The Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds That's a surprise! Expected Michael Bublé to make it on Christmas week. He'll be No.1 next week.
December 18, 20232 yr I imagine sales are really close and Michael Buble will snatch it towards the end of the week.
December 18, 20232 yr Has any Alexa exclusive become an actual Christmas hit i.e. charted in the following year? Cozy Little Christmas is the only example I can think of which charted relatively well the following year when it was made available everywhere. Not sure how it charted (if at all) the years after, but I feel most people would not associate it with Amazon now unlike River.
December 18, 20232 yr Whenever I asked Alexa to play when or last Christmas it’d always say to play specific songs you need Amazon music unlimited here is wham and similar artists then play the song anyway but now during chart week it hasn’t once played it no matter what you ask. So it is deliberate but what can you do
December 18, 20232 yr Ariana down to 17 from 13 yesterday - make it make sense! Yay for Cher and LOL at the TikTok flops  Edited December 18, 20232 yr by Lee_J11

Not sure how it charted (if at all) the years after, but I feel most people would not associate it with Amazon now unlike River. Actually totally forgot that was an Amazon song so point made! That actually charted 1 place higher in its second year. Pretty sure none of the other Amazon songs have done anything close to that. Lol Creator Universe completely tanking. Hopefully on course to not even be top 40. The Rolling Stones album had a new edition dropping this week so wouldn't surprise me if they do have a decent lead - would definitely still expect Bublé to take it next week either way though.
December 18, 20232 yr Cher at #22 in the update! :cheeseblock: Top 20 is achievable!!! :w00t: Let's get the download campaign going! :music:
December 18, 20232 yr Wow, what a disaster for the Creators. These download reliant songs seem to either go one of two ways - No.1 or miss the top 40 altogether - but LadBaby was probably the last hurrah for that type of very download-heavy No.1 single. Edited December 18, 20232 yr by gooddelta
