December 29, 20232 yr Author 62 J Hus featuring Drake Who Told You 2nd single from Beautiful and Brutal Yard Released: 8th June 2023 Label: Black Butter Chart Statistics NE (22/06/2023) | 2-2-2-3-4-5-9-16-15-49-53-60-68-75-89-x Sales: 400k+ Certification: Gold 10 Sales 02 Audio Streaming 02 Video Streaming Video FlJQudt_OtU Biography J Hus, a Londoner of Gambian heritage, made a major impact on the 2010s U.K. rap scene with his distinctive blend of dancehall, grime, Auto-Tune-laced R&B, and Afro-beats, often dubbed Afroswing. After establishing himself in 2015 with a series of freestyles and early singles, such as the heavily streamed "Lean & Bop," he broke through with his 2017 debut full-length, Common Sense, which hit the U.K. Top Ten and earned a shower of critical acclaim, garnering a Mercury Prize nomination, among other accolades. His 2020 follow-up, Big Conspiracy, was an even greater success, topping the U.K. album chart and featuring the Top Five single "Must Be." Momodou Jallow was born and raised in Stratford, London by his single mother. Influenced by 50 Cent, he began rapping, and went professional thanks to the help of two friends, who formed 2K Management. In 2015, they recorded a handful of demos and uploaded them to the Web, cut the single "So Paranoid" with London rapper MoStack, and uploaded a set of videos, including "Dem Boy Paigon." The latter was an instant street hit and quickly earned over a million views. J Hus then dropped his debut mixtape, The 15th Day, as well as the non-album single "Lean & Bop" (his first release on Sony imprint Black Butter Records), which was streamed several million times. J Hus began 2016 with the single "Friendly," and the three-song Playing Sports EP soon followed. The burgeoning star had a busy year in 2017, as he featured on the Nines track "High Roller" and Dave's hit "Samantha," as well as Stormzy's "Bad Boys" from his hugely successful Gang Signs & Prayer record. In May 2017, Hus released his debut LP, Common Sense, which featured guest spots from MoStack, Burna Boy, Tiggs Da Author, and MIST. The album was recognized with a Mercury Prize nomination that same year; in 2018, it won Best Album at the NME Awards, and garnered the rapper three Brit Award nominations. J Hus followed his breakthrough success with the 2018 EP Big Spang. Later that year, he was arrested for carrying a six-inch knife in public and was incarcerated for eight months. The day of his release in April 2019, he made a surprise appearance on-stage at a Drake show. Making up for lost time, J Hus quickly got to work, and by year's end had begun issuing singles from his next album. Released in early 2020, Big Conspiracy featured guest spots from Burna Boy, Koffee, and newcomer iceè tgm. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History J Hus 2017 63 Samantha (Dave & J Hus) 2017 22 Bad Boys (Stormzy feat. December 29, 20232 yr Author 61 Oliver Tree and Robin Schulz Miss You Non-album single Released: 5th August 2022 Label: Atlantic Recording Corporation Chart Statistics NE (20/10/2022) | [28-9-8-5-4-3-4-4-11-18-51-75]-7-9-9-11-10-36-39-35-41-44-54-59-61-68-82-95-x Sales: 600k+ Certification: Platinum 05 Sales 03 Audio Streaming 08 Video Streaming Video BX0lKSa_PTk Biography Oliver Tree A brief encounter with Oliver Tree might lead you to wonder: Is this guy for real? The bowl cut, bell-bottoms, and pink-and-purple windbreaker all seem calculated to confuse. Yet the ample pleasures of his unusual brand of tongue-in-cheek pop are right there on the surface. Born Oliver Tree Nickell in Santa Cruz, California, in 1993, he got his start as Tree on Belgium’s Apollo Records—an early home to Aphex Twin—in 2013, pairing warbly sing-speaking with folktronica beats. Three years later, he reappeared as Oliver Tree, bringing emo energy to “When I’m Down,” a collaboration with pop-EDM producer Whethan, then returned in 2017 with “Welcome To LA,” which poked fun at the city’s superficial reputation. Over the next few years, he developed the Oliver Tree character in wry lyrics paired with irresistible electro-pop hooks. In his viral hit “Alien Boy,” he sings from the perspective of an extraterrestrial—a proud misfit and slyly unreliable narrator with an “eagle beak” and “ostrich feet”—but on the grunge-flavored “Hurt,” another standout from 2020’s Ugly is Beautiful, he makes a more heartfelt admission: “I’m sorry if I hurt you.” As an entertainer, he’s fully committed to the bit. In an interview with Apple Music, he claimed to have spent 27 months engineering a 20-foot-tall scooter that he rides using stilts. But he serves universal truths alongside his tall tales. Adopting a philosophical tone, he told Apple Music, “You’re never going to be truly happy if you can’t learn to accept yourself the way you are.” - Apple Music Robin Schulz In a matter of two short years, producer/DJ Robin Schulz rose to prominence as one of the definitive artists of the post-EDM boom of the 2010s. Born in Osnabrück, Germany, in 1987, Schulz cut his teeth on the local DJ circuit as a teenager, quickly landing his own club night as a 20-year-old tastemaker. Inspired by his breakout success behind the decks, he soon pivoted to production, releasing a handful of buzzing originals and remixes. But once he dropped his 2014 internationally chart-topping remix of "Waves" by Dutch singer/rapper Mr. Probz, he became next in line to claim the DJ throne. The song itself, a downtempo pop ballad turned into a chilled-out, sun-soaked house jam, helped birth and popularize tropical house, an EDM microgenre that ruled festival stages and charts around the world. Indeed, Schulz's feel-good take on dance music—bright, bouncy pop melodies and catchy vocals atop a deep house framework—defined the then-nascent sound. But where other producers were boxed in by the sonic trend, Schulz transcended it, expanding into pop territory. His remix-heavy 2014 debut album, Prayer, saw him reworking dance-friendly pop acts like Lykke Li and Coldplay, while 2015's Sugar featured collaborations with Akon and Moby. His third full-length, 2017's Uncovered, put Schulz’s production prowess on full display: Mixing lush melodies and powerful vocals into his singular blend of pop-meets-dance, the album fulfilled his crossover potential. Just look to "Shed a Light," alongside fellow dance-pop stars David Guetta and Cheat Codes, and "OK," featuring UK crooner James Blunt, and you'll know why Schulz remains two steps ahead on the global dance floor. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Oliver Tree 2021 33 Life Goes On -1- 2022 03 Miss You (Oliver Tree & Robin Schulz) -NAS- 2023 11 Voices (KSI feat.
