Shed Seven must have a decent fanbase, they had variants but not so many, think Busted had much more

But live albums very rarely do well - and that’s effectively what the Busted album is (is it not?) despite being tagged onto the album that reached number 1 last year. (Just checked: there are two versions – one is just the original album from last year with one additional song, the other is the live version. So the main new version is the live version. In fact maybe the non-live version is just there to create a bridge so that the OCC see the live version as being the same album and therefore connect their sales together - to avoid a scenario like, for example where Kylie’s Tension and Extension charted separately, despite being the same recordings).

The original album was brilliant - regardless of how many variants. Although not unique, it was a refreshing take on a greatest hits album. It was released in a way that built a lot of publicity amongst casual fans, who liked Busted, but had never bought their music before, but it was also different to their previous greatest hits albums in that it had new recordings (or at least one of the two versions of it had mostly new recordings.) The main NEW product is just a live version of the album - which is not going to appeal as much to anyone other than some of the hardcore fans. Think, for example, how many copies Kylie’s studio albums sell, and then how many copies her live albums sell.

But if you have a hardcore fanbase they'd buy anything, they don't care that much what it is

Can't believe Busted are only selling 3K considering the tons of variants

I assumed people were mistaken, but going to their store, I see there are 9 new variants. I guess the key is they don’t have so many super fans anymore. They’ve only released two studio albums since they reformed and the fact that the first of these two only reached number 13 suggests their base of superfans is not that huge, (and I don’t imagine they are building a new fan base) and explains why they’re not able to sell such huge numbers.

When you see how poorly it is doing on iTunes, it does seem as though it is probably JUST the super fans buying it. With many other fan base acts, their albums do appeal to a broader audience.

Sophie now doing well enough on Spotify to overcome her deficit to Jack yesterday (she’s gained around 800 sales on him over 2 days - with 2 more days of streaming to be counted - the deficit yesterday was 750). So as long as she is genuinely also ahead on Apple, Amazon, and iTunes, which she appears to be, she should equal her peak of number 2!

And by my reckoning, Natasha Bedingfield is still doing well enough to get a reset. It will be interesting to see if she or any other songs do get resets. I assume they only get one chance – if they re-enter the top 100 without getting a reset, then they are doomed, regardless of what happens in future weeks. Does anyone else feel this is true?

It presumably blocks them from being able to get a reset automatically but they can still apply for a manual reset.

Jack is stronger on YouTube is the only thing

Sophie now number 1 on Amazon (I now only have access to one of the two Apple charts).

Yesterday

1 - Lost Frequencies and Bastille

2 - Sophie

3 - Jack Harlow

4 - Noah Kahan

Today

1 - Sophie

2 - Lost Frequencies and Bastille

3 - Noah Kahan (+12, 21, 56, 191)

4 - Jack Harlow (+88, 196)

Interestingly, the clean version of ‘Lovin’ On Me’ is available on Apple and Amazon, but not on Spotify. It’s at 196 on no Amazon and not in the top 200 on Apple. It’s still too close to call between Sophie and Jack Harlow - but as long as she maintains her lead in all three charts, I think Sophie should get that number 2 - but maybe not until that last moment.

Can't see Sophie on that ? https://music.amazon.co.uk/popular/songs

^you need to have premium to see the "complete chart", otherwise there are missing songs (Sophie, Jack Harlow etc)

You can’t see it because that chart stars out explicit tracks unless you log in. When I click on the same link, Sophie is number 1, but with the explicit symbol next to it. You also won’t see Jack Harlow at 3; Vampire at 6; and Prada at 10.

Good point. The latest data provided (and I don’t know if this is YouTube music song streams or YouTube video plays) - would give Jack a 100 sale per day advantage if it’s free (mostly videos) or 600 if it’s subscription (mostly music). The former is a figure that shouldn’t be a problem for Sophie. The latter figure, however, could be too much.

Good for Lewis Capaldi !

Cool to see that second album being back in top 5 for second week in a row.

This album will surely have the platinum certification.

Would be great to see the song Strangers being a hit, but he's again sick and retired from music at the moment.

So without promotion and good playlisting on Spotify, it's going to be impossible.

Looks like Shed 7 might secure the #1 album and I wonder if Sophie can go back to #2
Yesss Sophie! Looks like she should grab #2! Replicating Ruth’s run so far, 8-2-… (1 ideally but I fear it won’t :( )

RUTH's run was ACR induced (it was really 2-1) while Sophie's isn't. Still an interesting parallel though for streaming movie on Amazon Prime vs streaming series on Netflix induced tracks to potentially get the same official climb.
