I've just finished watching the whole series over the last couple of weeks ready for this (I had only seen the odd episode before), can't wait for the Christmas episode now, I loved it!

Same - I finished the re-watched yesterday!

Fully ready for the special now!

It's what I am most looking forwards to, after giving my family their gifts that is. (Oh and Christmas dinner, is it bad I'm looking forwards to that more than giving the gifts lol)

That was incredible. The correct ending (although I’m intrigued to know what Ruth and James disagreed on about how it should’ve ended) and everybody had their moment to shine. All the references to other moments throughout the series were great. I was dying at the KFC drive-thru scene

Was initially shook at Sonia returning, but it all worked out in the end and the pay-off was great. Disappointed nobody truly put her in her place and told her to f*** off but other than that I can’t fault it.

I don't think the f word has ever really been heard on G&S, has it?

They certainly gave us free reign to love to hate Sonia 😅 but I enjoyed it. Nicely tied up the loose ends. Nice twists and turns which meant it was less predictable.

It was perfect, the only way it could have ended and certainly clear how it has to be the final episode.

What a journey the last 17 years have been! Such a special evening for those of us who’ve been following for so long!

I loved it, I've been late to the Gavin and Stacey train it kind of passed me by first time round as I didn't watch much TV (still prefer reading even now), but binged the whole thing this month and really got swept up by it all. Perfect ending really.
Very, very predictable, from the opening sentences to the end, but a great episode anyway. It is hard to watch arrogant James Cordon, howver, with how much of an arsehole he is in real life and how arrogant he is.

I’m not certain that James Corden is as awful in real life as people would have you believe. For every bad story about him, there are plenty of lovely ones too. He’s clearly a talented guy, he’s had rave reviews for his performance in the Constituent this year.

Loved that episode it was like a whole series in one go.

The finish perfectly completes the story and thankfully no deaths!!!

Going to enjoy watching it a couple more times. Especially loved Dave Coaches return.

The story is definitely over, though. There was barely any focus on Gavin and Stacey, as their story has ended. This put the finishing touches to everyone else's. Shame we never found out the csmping trip story!
Lovely show to finish on Xmas day, bbc do these sitcom finales best!
Honestly the amount of ‘but we still don’t know what happened on the fishing trip’ comments really grate. It’s almost like people have missed the whole joke over the past 17 years.

It annoyed me when, in some interviews leading up to the show on Wednesday, people kept asking Rob Brydon what happens.

I'm not interviewer or journalist and even I know you're not getting an answer.

I think I may need to watch it again without the hyped-up excitement in my head, because genuinely I was disappointed on Christmas Day and hardly laughed

I know the outcome was inevitable and had to happen, but the storyline leading up to it was very unoriginal and predictable.

I did question how Nessa said Smithy and Sonia got engaged the day after she had asked him to marry her, and yet it took 5 years to get to the wedding day. Sonia did not come across as someone who would wait that long for the big day.
