April 28th - A song you like that is about a journey somewhere

The KLF - Baltimore to Fair Play

The KLF's Chill Out project instantly popped into my head as source material for this! The whole record takes you on an ambient journey through the U.S. Gulf Coast states. In 2021, this album finally appeared on streaming as a re-edited package called Come Down Dawn (due to issues with some of the original samples used) so I've chosen a track off that version so it can be included on the playlist. I figured I had to pick one of the longer songs for a Rollo challenge! So have 'Baltimore to Fair Play', which was originally titled 'Madrugada Eterna'.

Immediately thought of this given the theme. Surprised nobody chose this one yet given the title. I couldn't choose Last Train To Trancecentral as Jade already chose a different KLF track.

DAY TWENTY EIGHT - A Journey

No idea why this was the first thing that came to mind... but it was, so I guess I'll go with it. Later Joni tracks are often overlooked and this is from a pretty good album of hers.

April 28th - A song you like that is about a journey somewhere

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - The Mercy Seat

A somewhat short journey - the walk from the narrator's cell to the electric chair - and the metaphorical journey in his head as he is finally able to admit his guilt to himself.

Absolutely one of my favourite records of all time and one that made me sit bolt upright in full attention when I first heard John Peel play this back in '88. A shame the sound is a bit muddied on the video as it's a completely different mix to the album version.

Dammit, beaten to my choice by ten minutes! The Journey Continues is a great choice and very underrated song.

The Mercy Seat is amazing too, incredible storytelling and build-up <3

Day 28 - I'll go with another underrated one, has a really lovely chorus and lyrics and music has a good contrast as the narrator moves away.

April 29th – A song you like with a country in the artist name or title

'Ghosts' is their most admired track but I prefer the livelier electronic vibes of their debut, first created in 1979 and then a top 20 UK hit in 1981.

Edited by TheSnake

Originally also by the late Haralds Sīmanis titled Ezers.

Time to post a lovely ballad x

Day 29 Coldplay - Princess of China (ft. Rihanna)

Not usually big on Coldplay but this song is massive and it's one I forget about a lot so it felt right to pay it a lil homage here x

I didn't want to go for America/U.S.A as there's loads of songs that mention that in the title, Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) would have been my next one
