June 17, 20241 yr "Cruel Summer" might be back in the top 10 this week then? If not it should definitely get there next week with the Wembley dates on Fri/Sat/Sun this week. Not sure if it could go back in the top 5 at all even?
June 17, 20241 yr Looks like Charli is going to go 2-3 in the albums, amazing longevity! How is a fortnight in the top 10 amazing longevity?
June 17, 20241 yr It's quite rare that a non #1 debut stays in top ten. I wouldn't call it longevity though. Edited June 17, 20241 yr by Sour Candy
June 17, 20241 yr How is a fortnight in the top 10 amazing longevity? If you look at probably 95% of the albums that debut in the top 10 and then see their eeek two position it’s impressive, most of them plummet
June 17, 20241 yr Charli's last album dropped 1-24 so if this album is potentially challenging for a second week in the top 5 that is fairly notable! I'm sure it'll still end up falling off the chart relatively quickly as 99% of albums do but nice to see it at least having a second respectable week. I will lowkey actually kind of respect Taylor's team more if they do pull out more signed CDs / exclusive formats this week considering they almost certainly don't need to to stay #1 this time. Would give them some more plausible deniability about the push last week not being as cynical as it appeared. x I didn't know that 'USB' was getting a physical release, cool to see it making an appearance - does that mean he's going to stop updating the tracklist now or will this physical release just keep getting more out of date over time? Also something something Sir Bonamassa band alert @ #13 x
June 18, 20241 yr Yeah, that’s what I mean: these days the second weeks are generally atrocious for albums and staying top-3/top-5 is considered amazing in my books! Tbh I’m fine with Taylor grabbing up all of those numerous weeks at number one instead of default 10k on first week albums with 1-OUT type of a chart run! But if she really wants many weeks at number one, she should release a Greatest Hits. :kink: Edited June 18, 20241 yr by BOOBA GRANDE
June 18, 20241 yr But if she really wants many weeks at number one, she should release a Greatest Hits. :kink: Let’s not give her ideas.

June 18, 20241 yr Taylor would never release a GH same as why Rihanna, Beyonce, Coldplay etc what labels want if you discover an artist is to buy all the studio albums if you have a GH, people buy it and don't invest further maybe on paper it looks like The Weeknd is super successful with The Highlights but actually it's the opposite no one is buying it, and it actually precludes people from buying his studio albums so it's a loose-loose situation rather than a win-win
June 18, 20241 yr maybe on paper it looks like The Weeknd is super successful with The Highlights but actually it's the opposite no one is buying it, and it actually precludes people from buying his studio albums so it's a loose-loose situation rather than a win-win Insert false claim debunking: "The Highlights" has a vinyl and has spent almost a year on the physical albums chart. Any studio album that didn't *just* come out is also getting the majority of its chart points from streams Thanks for pointing this out - I've kind of went along with the conventional wisdom that nearly none of its sales were actual pure sales beyond the first couple of weeks without ever fact checking that but indeed it's had 46 weeks in the physical albums chart which is more than all of his studio albums except 'After Hours'! (AH has 70, 'Beauty Behind The Madness' 42, 'Starboy' 25, 'Dawn FM' 14, 'Kiss Land' 2). It's also his 3rd longest runner on the overall album sales chart (39 weeks, behind AH's 74 and BBTM's 51). In Australia that Weeknd album actually consistently outsells (on pure sales) the perennial long charting studio albums from Morgan Wallen, Noah Kahan, Luke Combs etc. But I'll always say that he doesn't need to prove anything with physical sales, chart points are chart points.
June 18, 20241 yr I think the closest thing to a greatest hits we’d get from Taylor is an eras tour live album. We know they record it cos we’ve got live versions of songs like cruel summer of the surprise songs she’s put onto digital albums. I think we might get a full live album but I doubt she’d do a greatest hits, not now anyway

I know there's a physical but has the Weeknd really charted for 1 year in the sales chart? never seen it charting there?
June 18, 20241 yr I know there's a physical but has the Weeknd really charted for 1 year in the sales chart? never seen it charting there? 46 weeks in the physical chart, 39 in the sales chart https://www.officialcharts.com/albums/weeknd-the-highlights/
June 18, 20241 yr Everyone going after The Weeknd who is selling physicals. The queen of no sales in Becky Hill with her Top 20, platinum release ‘Get To Know’ - it spent 151 weeks in the album Top 100 with no physical release. In the download charts it’s run was 75-out-85-83. https://www.officialcharts.com/albums/becky...ll-get-to-know/
