Rihanna crashes out before the final unlike the first time 'Umbrella' appeared when it did make the final and lost out to All Saints at the time. Everything been covered on this in the commentary before but this was the moment things really shifted up a gear for Rihanna with it on top for 10 weeks and cursing us with the rain (which is what it's been doing this week in fact). This leaves you with the most unexpected final 2 across all of these so far as we see actress Kate Winslet face off against James Blunt!

Last one of these EOY's for me to present then.. and I'll vote for Kate Winslet to win. Both of these are great for me though, even if that's maybe not the most popular opinion!

James Blunt is a bit too MOR and depressing for me so Kate Winslet, it's a shame she's disowned it as it's a really lovely wintery ballad and sung surprisingly well.

This really is the weirdest top 2 of any of the rounds :lol:

Yeah this really is a weird final but I actually went for Blunty as it’s my favourite song of his, though still not a big favourite or anything. :lol:

I prefer Goodbye My Lover, a very strong and emotional ballad. I find What If a bit generic and Westlife vibes even though Kate performs it very well.

 

Manics and Nina was my favourite in this round by quite some stretch and should have been in this final.

This top 2 is all kinds of epic for me and I’m amazed they both made it

I voted for What If thought it was lovely at the time - one of the better animated movie songs and for better or worse probably an influence on later animated movie soundtracks.

Anastacia was my top choice but the Blunty song is my second favourite of the ten. I would rank Kate 5th after Gasolina and Eminem.
