January 1Jan 1 If it wasn't for the drama then I wouldn't be watching this season as the line-up and challenges have been terrible, Minhi Wang winning that design challenge was highly questionable & feel like nobody is giving strong winner vibes. Virgo Queen is doing the best so far, but that snatch game performance along with everybody else was dire. The worst snatch game i've ever seen. Did anyone catch that teaser at the end for the next episode, looks like somebody's gonna walk out.
January 2Jan 2 This season peaked early, and now it feels like it's just going downhill. I mean combination of that mini reading challenge and the snatch game, it has to be the worst episode in whole franchise!!! I don't think I actually care for who wins this season, because all of them are giving zero energy winner vibes!!!
January 3Jan 3 Ok, the last episode redeemed the franchise!!! I enjoyed the challenge and as much as I thought Minni Wang did well, I was so rooting for Helena!!! Makayla/Xana moment was popcorn worthy, and the bottom two were correct!!!
January 3Jan 3 I wish I liked Minhi’s drag more because she is such a sweetheart! I agreed with her win this week but I’m surprised Makayla kind of ate after the last design challenge. Definitely a better episode this time, Makayla wanted some of Melinda Verga’s nachos and I lived for it.
January 10Jan 10 I know I'm going to say something that really goes against the general consensus but I genuinely think Makayla is one of the most unlikeable queens the franchise has ever seen!! Every time she speaks it sounds like some sort of grandiose twitter nonsense that just sounds dead arrogant and really not inspiring at all, and I'm finding it quite manipulative???? I'm really disappointed because I ADORED the other Couture's and obviously love what Makayla stands for, just not the execution of any of it. Like everyone else though this time!!

Personally, I see her point in many of her arguments and I’m like “that’s valid” but I always feel like her speeches are going through some kind of “what will make good TV” and “this will make a great soundbite” as opposed to being entirely authentic. If you tell everyone you’re that girl enough, they’ll eventually believe you but sometimes you don’t have to say that out loud, you just are. I kinda agree she has the most star power of the cast but she’s got maturing to do, so I hope they don’t crown her, also for her sake. None of the cast really feel like winners though (for the second year in a row, as much as I adored S4) so I guess I’m rooting for Minhi in the same way I rooted for Kita Mean, in a kind of “she doesn’t feel like a winner but she’s so likeable and the best of the bunch so why not” way.

Exactly - "I'm Makayla Couture and you WILL keep me" - it feels like she's seen a lot of black/trans older figures online and in television stand up for themselves or reclaim their power in a predominantly white and cisgender world, so she regurgitates what she's heard even if it doesn't feel completely connected to the actual intensity of what's happening in the moment and isn't necessarily backed up by her life experience. It just feels a little bit like a phrasebook at points that she utilises to get what she wants in that moment! She seems to put a lot of stock on being a Couture and being a previous makeover contestant which is fine, but she's being automatically called a star on this basis when actually it's what you bring once that's got you in the door that's important!
January 10Jan 10 This season is an absolute mess — Virgo has been half asleep the back half of the season (instant boot after the Snatch Game episode), and she's a frontrunner. I do think Makayla has it but she's completely undercooked and needs to finesse her skills. Minhi is sweet, but she's giving nothing more than a makeover challenge guest who won the opportunity to stick around for the rest of the season. Helena exists. Justice for Perla — she does have that fifth-place fan favourite energy though, but I would rather see her than the rest of them.
January 10Jan 10 The only Queen left worthy of a crown is Virgo in all honesty. I agree with the comments about Makayla, she needs to mature and she’ll have all the time in front of her to do that (I can see her being crowned later down the road in All Stars), and as far as Minhi Wang goes, I would be really against crowning her, especially after it’s been disclosed publicly now that she doesn’t do drag for living and it’s more like a thing she does on a side!!! Helena, hmm I really like her but I agree that she lacks energy, even in the last episode when she won she was giving not much of enjoyment or excitement for someone who was so hungry for a win!!! January 10Jan 10 I’ve said a few times but I just do NOT see it for Virgo, the only challenges she’s done well in other than episode 1’s music video were a single lipsync and “sit there and have a conversation” :lol: and sure Makayla hasn’t set the competition ablaze but Virgo has shown no personality, I do think she’s an excellent performer, has a passion for performance and knows who she is as a queen though. Idk for me I think I’m just resigned to going into a Canada season knowing it’s not going to be top tier drag but it is frustrating for us to be at the second season in a row where nobody feels like a winner! Makayla has the star power but hasn’t done well in the competition, and I do agree she needs a little longer in the oven and I think she’d be a great vTW or Global All Stars rep. But weighing it all up, whatever, she’s c**t, she’s been good TV, so I want her to win over the others. With Minhi, there just isn’t the spark of Makayla or the performance sense of Virgo, but she is lovely and she’s the one who’s actually done somewhat well at the challenges. Helena kind of has the same vibe as Scarlet Bobo for me, did well at nearly everything but didn’t excel particularly at anything. January 17Jan 17 Congrats to The Virgo Queen, in somewhat a very controversial season!!! I still think she was the best one, especially in this last episode and challenge!!! But one thing that I realized with Canada Drag Race is that I don't remember most of the queens in the franchise :lol:. Yeah I know Jimbo and Priyanka come from this franchise and they're very successful, but it literally took me few seconds to remember Venus when she appeared on this episode, despite her being a winner in last season!!!
January 17Jan 17 I think whichever way it went was gonna feel a bit anti climactic, they all felt feasible as finalists (although I still got nothing from Virgo all season, so maybe not her lmfao) but they all felt like they lacked something in terms of a winner, whether it was personality, overall spark or in Makayla’s case a rocky performance on the season. But for me I can’t think of a more forgettable/bland/barely there winner than Virgo in terms of storyline and her presence in the episodes. I think at times CDR really focuses on twists and drama and forgets about the actual queens.

January 19Jan 19 I wanted a Helena win, ngl. As soon as Brooke Lynn said she didn't show the same passion as the others, I knew it was game over though. 😔 (Fwiw, she was my winner in both design challenges, no shade to Minhi, I just thought hers were better!) Mikayla has the confidence, but really needs some more time in the oven. I'm not the biggest Xana fan in the world, but I found her defense against her a little ott (though it might have been that way for many ways... I'm definitely guilty of outbursts that are not proportionate myself 😂) Virgo is solid... But she's a bit of a non-winner for me? Maybe what makes a Canadian superstar just doesn't gel with me? Venus... Yeah. She won the last season apparently 😂
