The run of chart success to me felt like a perfect storm of luck and fortune in many ways. 2019's Arcade, 2020's Think About Things and 2022's Snap all went viral on TikTok. Måneskin had great success

I guess I’m quite relaxed about the UK not doing well. It’s only half of my nationality anyway but actually I’ve spent much of my life with both my nations doing badly and Switzerland have only picked up lately. Anyway it doesn’t really detract from my enjoyment of the show if either or both of them don’t do well. What I do like to see is them sending something musically competent even if it flops, which they are this year in both cases. I still think that’s a big step forward from the likes of Josh Dubovie for the UK, and some of the rubbish CH were putting forward a decade or two ago as well.

I still feel like we're better than, say, the nadir of 2019 when we sent a song so unmemorable it just seemed to come and go with absolutely no hype or interest whatsoever. I prefer us taking risks and failing (Electro Velvet) than being as boring as possible and still failing.

I'm also not a fan of the 2012-13 "pick an old singer from decades ago who needs a bit of extra money" era, I really worried where things were going during that time and if the rest of the decade would feature new bangers from the likes of Donny Osmond, David Soul and Chris de Burgh, so I'm glad we've moved on from that.

They’ve been put after Ukraine (good) but before Austria (bad) in the running order

my spidey sense is saying we're getting no points from the public then being immediately followed by one of the favourites to win

I adore this song. I think it's one of the strongest entries we've sent in years. BUT the staging/performance needed to be memorable and I was really underwhelmed by it. I also felt their vocals were a bit off (perhaps nervous/out of breath) but that worries me because, failing strong staging, vocals are all they have.

I am such a huge Eurovision fan that I've moved way beyond hinging all of my hopes on the UK doing well. It would be quite nice to be on the left side of the board though, right?

Best UK entry from last 15 years. 2nd best from 21st century.

I really hope it's not a televote zero. I could maybe see Australia lending a point or two if we're lucky. It would be nice to see the song appear in at least one country's top ten, it has charm, especially in the verses and I hate it when good performers get nul points (Embers deserved it, this doesn't).

Agreed though that I expected a lot more from the staging, why is the UK team insistent on bringing one big prop that looks naff every time. A grand staircase in a house setting with Bridgerton style decoration (even as a graphic backdrop if not a stage prop) and wearing the costumes from the video would have worked really nicely.

Seems like they nailed the jury performance as much as they could so hopefully a couple of points are chucked at them there so we don’t end on 0

Regardless of the result I’ve loved their energy around being part of the show, hopefully they carve some sort of career off the back of it.

I’ve booked to see them at their London show later this year.

And not sure if it’s been mentioned they’ve announced a 7” vinyl - https://remembermonday.os.fan/?fbclid=PAQ0xDSwKVSbhleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABpzZw_2wrWobFZjlk8fWQKp7Z4_fKgcCrd6Jph5OaQczCECdSW1w-Yc9kNGUO_aem_PO2ZbDM1wvlqDRzbCFxAoQ

Might have to see if I can go to one of their shows.

This is pretty cool too.

And I agree, their positive energy throughout the entrant process has been fantastic, I'm really hoping it helps them tonight.

I just feel a bit deflated as we'll probably be bottom 5 regardless, between the running order and the reception the UK normally gets which is a shame for the girls representing us as they do deserve better than that imo.

You would never have had this sort of thing prior to 2022. So regardless of the results the general good will to the entrants has been good to see.

I'm really not sure how Europe will respond to that but I hope it's an improvement on last year at least.

They are, after all, white. ☑️
