'Do They Know It's Christmas' also doesn't really work as a title if they're changing the lyrics to be about US remembering the importance of the time etc.

 

Shou;d've changed it to 'Do WE know' or something

I don't mind the intro with the repeated lines and the build up at the beginning but it then just goes wrong when it breaks into the news article and loses all momentum in a really jarring way. It kind of makes it back a bit in the middle, and I do think the production in this part is a step up again, but then just loses it again in the final bit with the Dizzee rap and the Bowie part. It all feels like a cut and paste job (largely because it is!) and it misses that feeling that everyone is actually there in the same place recording something together, probably because that was always most felt in the outro and they've completely redesigned that part.

It's really not good is it, a total and complete utter mess.

Since this is under the original Band Aid name, it's safe to say that this will be combined with the 1984 original on the charts.

Couldn’t even get through a minute-what a bizarre first 50 seconds though! Kind of thrilled they kept some Dido in there but actually, I’m not sure I want her associated with this mess.

I must be in the minority here, but my favorite version was Band Aid 30. Plus I think they should have made a Band Aid 36 for the pandemic (i.e. in 2020).

This is actually really quite a lot better than what I was expecting

That extended version is a lot better. The production is great, but the vocals on the short version are a bit of a mess.

Without the spoken parts this potentially would have been the best produced versionz hope they release a version without it

It sounds very messy. But then every version has been abysmal apart from the great original, the only one which is still worth a listen after all these years imo.

Nevermind, we've probably got an AI version to look forward to in 10 years time!

Compared to other charity songs it's always up there as one of the best. I did find this version OK and it's nice to hear old and new voices together, but I'm not racing to give it a repeat listen

The single version released today is better. No spoken word parts and flows much better.

There's also an extended 9:22 version out today!
