2001 now and we have a girl-group trio chart battle, with the newly reigning chart queens Atomic Kitten releasing their follow-up to breakthrough chart-topper Whole Again: a cover of The Bangles' Eternal Flame the same week Destiny's Child followed up their own number one Survivor with the sassy Bootylicious. It was Atomic Kitten who won the battle, scoring a second #1 in a row, while Destiny's Child settled for #2.

I’m going for Bootylicious despite that crappy WordArt font on the cover. I’ve probably overplayed it over the years but it still stands up strong amongst their other songs. Eternal Flame is cute though.

Voted for 'Bootylicious'! Far from my favourite Destiny's Child song but the preferable option here.

The “Eternal Flame” cover really has zero creativity, whereas “Bootylicious” has plenty and had high cultural impact.

I do find 'Eternal Flame' in both versions good but 'Bootylicious' is a sassy banger so that gets my vote!

This is a really tough one

I love both of these songs. Bought both on CD and played them both to death

Over the years my love for The Bangles version of Eternal Flame has grown and I find myself playing the AK version less

Whereas I will never skip Bootylicious!

Both great songs, but I still prefer Eternal Flame.

Also, I genuinely like 'Eternal Flame' too. It's a nice cover!

I like both a lot, I wish both had been able to have a turn at the top! I suppose Bootylicious was at a slight disadvantage with the album already having sold a lot, whereas Eternal Flame was released before the album reissue.

I actually really quite like their version of 'Eternal Flame' 🙈 but 'Bootylicious' has it for me here.
