May 27May 27 Not the Golden Wagner I wrote this post before that reveal but I'll send anyway!I chose to send Louise for these reasons: At the time of signing up to the competition her album was on the verge of being released (it's out now!) so I was excited and she currently has my focus and passion! I've been a fan for almost 30 years, she's one of the first popstars I was drawn to. Also she's an artist with quite an extensive catalogue to choose from - from the 90s to the 20s, so I was spoiled for choice. I chose 'Borderline' (her newest single) to showcase that she's still going strong at 50 and because it's one of my current favourite songs. I'm happy that quite a few of you enjoyed it!I had briefly considered sending Griff (❤️) before going firm with Louise - maybe next time I'll send Griff? #nospoilerspleaseI'm not sure who I'd have chosen if I'd given more thought to sending a much bigger artist. I'd already selected Mariah Carey in AF Idol a few years ago. Maybe Beyoncé? A lot of my major favourites happen to have artist forums so they weren't eligible for this. 😆Well done everyone, many amazing songs were sent! As well as some artists I know and love already, it was particularly interesting to hear songs/genres from artists I'd not given much or any time to before. May 27May 27 I don't know how much forum members watched my iconic "All-time top 100 girl groups songs" countdown in 2020 year (in this year I want to compile 2.0 version), so need to add the story behind my entry in round 1. YVA - Grozio Fabrikas (2006) - 9.5 / 10I will always have a special place in my heart for this song, but sadly YVA did a bet on other tracks from album, so based on the rules I can't include "Grozio Fabrikas" in top 100. "Grozio Fabrikas" ("Beauty Factory") is my favourite track from 2nd YVA studio album "Katytes" ("Cats"), which was recorded in 2006. Now my favourite member of group Kristina (blonde lady from my avatar) is not only singer in girl group Kristal, but also business lady and has small beauty studio. Based on lyrics it's easily my favourite YVA song, "Grozio Fabrikas" also got the third place in my all YVA songs ranking in 2018 year. The sentence in my profile "Sielos grožio niekas nepavogs, kol širdy jaunystė gros" (No one will steal the beauty of the soul until the heart is young) was taken from this masterpiece. I tried to translate it through Google from Lithuanian to English. May 27May 27 Sad for Louise as she has a fair amount of bops to come. Her last album was a big surprise for me (I'm still yet to check out her latest one). Would loved to have seen what 'Stretch' could have done! Lemon Demon was a bit of a bop too. I also expected worse from YVA for some reason.--Now I'm stuck... do I send the riskier choice now, or wait and see if I can get further first? EDIT: Also at THE GOLDEN WAGNER !!Idk what to doooooo
May 27May 27 I have submitted mine for Round 2 also. It's not the "risk" I was thinking about, but hopefully it's enough to get me through as this is definitely the least confident I am with the "was a big hit single" batch!
