Criminal investigation launched into both Bob Vylan and Kneecap, fun times ahead. :/

Censorship alive and well in Britain in 2025 then, will the British government ever learn or do they wait for history to judge them then change their stance.

I really wish we could decouple legitimate criticism of the IDF and Israeli government with accusations of antisemitism.

Personally, I think all religions are equally dumb but it’s your right to pray to whichever make believe sky daddy you want to. But the IDF and Israeli government are war criminals - that has f*** all to do with their religion and everything to do with their actual actions

I have zero issue with it. The BBC and the government have a lot to say about this but they were absolutely silent when the Troubles were going on and their soldiers were blowing up my people while tarring us all with the same brush. They can talk about this when they atone for THAT. Until that point, no authority, only hypocrisy.

Bob Vylan will no longer be playing the RADAR Festival in Manchester this weekend.

However, the decision was not taken by the festival organisers themselves, who intended to continue with the booking. The host venue however, is half privately owned and half owned by AMG and Live Nation and conversations were going on 'above our collective heads, as a venue and ourselves, about whether Bob Vylan could play.'

They were ultimately told that if Bob Vylan wasn't removed from the Saturday line up the festival itself would not happen on that day, forcing the 41 other bands to pull out and placing the entire weekend in jeopardy, not to mention the financial hit to the venue and organisers. Additionally, the festival organiser were given the job of informing the band and instructed not to reveal any details of the decision for a simple announcement 'Bob Vylan will not be appearing at RADAR festival this weekend', leaving ticket buyers to conclude that the festival itself had made the decision.

In other news, Canadian musician Jordan Benjamin aka Grandson, who was due to be the headline act alongside Bob Vylan on the upcoming US tour made the following statement -

“Censorship is a tactic of control.

They blame artists and activists and not those responsible for the conditions we rage against.

From the death spiral of corporate greed to the genocide of Palestinian lives, the music and the artists are not the problem, we are the symptom of a sick world.

As a Jewish artist, I am deeply offended by the conflation of criticism against a military force known for their indiscriminate violence with antisemitism. The Israeli government has done more to exacerbate antisemitism this past 2 years than any statements by artists advocating for Palestinian freedom and solidarity.

Bob Vylan are the one feature on my album and that feature will go on. If they have the opportunity to come to the United States they will join us on the Inertia Tour as planned”

The band have also received statements of support from the likes of Lambrini Girls, Amyl & the Sniffers, SOFT PLAY and Kneecap

Not sure if this changes the legalities but in this video he explicitly states death to every soldier not just the IDF as an organisation

I personally wouldn’t call it incitement it’s more just charged rhetoric but I don’t know how the great British legal system will see it

I don't think anything's going to happen, incitement needs to be specifically aimed at imminent lawless action, like at an individual at a certain time and place, it was directed at an army in a different country with no one that was there, plus no matter how the media try and frame it, it's not anti-semetic and the IDF are not a protected group (and it's much more so trying to conflate the IDF with Judaism).

They said it themselves beautifully - all of this is pure distraction for the government and media so they don't have to deal with the fact that they're actually totally fine with a genocide happening and Israel can just carry on as they please.

100%, there can never ever be actual conversations or accountability held when people are too thick to separate the two. Israel is not Judaism, it’s a made up country that is committing war crimes.

When you see the atrocities committed, I am fully on board with the charged rhetoric tbh
