Also enjoyed Asia, New Order, Style Council and Paul Young.Tiebreak: Irene Cara

May 18May 18 Wow, that was so tough to choose. A fantastic group of songs, with some really euphoric pop bangers there! I had to leave out so many that I love. You can certainly tell it was around summertime too.And I still maintain that Club Tropicana is George’s absolute best song and I’m happy to die on that hill!Wham! - Club TropicanaKC And The Sunshine Band - Give It UpThe Style Council - Long Hot SummerMadness - Wings Of A DoveUB40 - Red, Red WineTiebreak-Irene Cara - Flashdance... May 20May 20 Spandau Ballet - GoldAsia - Don't CryDepeche Mode - Everything CountsGenesis - MamaHerbie Hancock - RockitPaul Young - Come Back And StayWham! - Club TropicanaKC And The Sunshine Band - Give It UpRyan Paris - Dolce Vita'Gold' is a bit overplayed on radio but it builds well and is a great sophistipop/dancepop track with world music beat influence and a good vocal! Also the band Asia had a great vocalist too, discovered them on one of my dad's classic rock CD's but Asia were bigger in America than here, but 'Don't Cry' is a great rock track. 'Everything Counts' is a good dark synthpop/alt-dance track. 'Mama' by Genesis is very dark too. 'Rockit' is a good ahead of its time sample based dance record with a good video, Art of Noise would be influenced by it!Paul Young 'Come Back And Stay' good pop song and just missing out! Also an improvement in quality from Wham! - classic holiday tune. Give It Up is a bit dated and disco for 1983 but is still a good feelgood track. I like the Italo-disco genre but Dolce Vita isn't one of the best! Edited May 22May 22 by TheSnake
May 20May 20 Author We had pencilled in this Sunday for the next session, however:It's a Bank Holiday weekend so people might have other plansThe temperature will be 30C in London and other areasIt's the final day of the Premier League seasonWe're running slightly behind with reviewsI'm happy to keep the session in as planned, but only if we have guaranteed sufficient numbers. Please respond:❤️ if you can definitely attend this Sunday (24th)🙏 if you'd rather we skip a weekIf I get at least five ❤️ reactions by Friday I'll go ahead on Sunday as planned, otherwise I'll skip and resume next Sunday (31st).

May 21May 21 I've just booked a few days in Dieppe, so I'm happy to skip Sunday. I will definitely be keeping a close eye on the Premier League scores, so that's another reason to miss a week.
May 21May 21 Author Thanks all for responding - apologies Bré/Chez/Jade but the skips have it this time. We'll resume with the next session on Sunday 31 May at 16:00.I'll keep the poll open until then - the tiebreak is currently tied!

May 22May 22 Saxophonist Dick Parry has died aged 83. I love a sax part, so we really should mark this in the RIP slot. He worked with Pink Floyd, including playing on Us And Them on Dark Side Of The Moon.

May 31May 31 Almost forgot to vote in this again oops!Depeche Mode - Everything CountsElton John - I'm Still StandingHerbie Hancock - RockitKraftwerk - Tour De FranceSpandau Ballet - Gold'Rockit' was a brilliant discovery, the rest I knew already although I think I'd only heard the Depeche Mode song once or twice before. A lot of the other songs I playlisted I already don't remember that well but iirc The Creatures and Gary Numan were the next best discoveries, while Madness, Wham! and KC & The Sunshine Band were other gooduns I knew already.Mike Oldfield for the tiebreak easily.
