July 31Jul 31 Officially getting a music video! Her first music video since launching as a huge popstar!!Out on Friday.
August 1Aug 1 This is not only her best release but this is the best song released thus decade. No notes, this is amazing absolutely gobsmackedMassive this is a generational song, star power! Edited August 1Aug 1 by Rough_edges
August 1Aug 1 Oh ok... this is stunning. There's something very late 90's about this! I love it. Her voice
August 1Aug 1 Ugh she does not miss 😩I fell i love with this song as soon as I heard her perform it live in Glasgow, I've been listening to live recordings on YouTube for the longest time so I was a bit worried the studio version wouldn't hit the same but my god it's stunning, it showcases her vocals so well - that final note 😭😭💀Buzzing for the music video as well, the looks incredible in the preview 😍
August 1Aug 1 Heard this now and definitely does the live version justice! I’ve always liked Chappell’s ballads even if others have been lukewarm and I enjoy that it does go against the grain of what is popular currently! Sounds very Corrs/Cranberries which is an excellent sound to emulate. Also hyped for the music video, she has kept us waiting for one!
August 1Aug 1 https://shopuk.iamchappellroan.com/products/the-subway-7Vinyl out 31/10/2025. 'I Hate It Here (Demo)' is the B-side!
August 1Aug 1 What a beautiful track, I agree with the comparisons. The outro especially is very Talk On Corners/Jagged Little Pill, and that final note is perfect. I guess beabadoobee is the most obvious modern reference point in terms of production. It has a timeless (kind of Roxette-esque) melody, great vocals, lovely production, I hope the public take to it! Definitely here for a big ballad hit for Chappell (or really any ballad hit that isn’t by a male troubadour).
August 1Aug 1 'The Giver' wasn't for me but this is a return to form I totally hear the '90s comparisons that people have mentioned in here, especially Roxette, the way the production bubbles away is very 'It Must Have Been Love'.Here's hoping for her second #1 as the reaction feels a lot more positive than her last single.
August 1Aug 1 ^the It must've been love comparison is spot on!!! I find it very Casual's little sister <3 I think this might be Chappel's best to date <3
August 1Aug 1 Hoping this does well its so strong only thing that could let it down is the UK is so hit and miss with ballads doing well
August 1Aug 1 This is absolutely stunning!! In love with her vocal delivery too. Very Alanis in some moments.
