Flawless. No notes.

It's really stunning. Just gets better and better with each listen!

Debuted at #1 with even bigger first day streams than "The Giver" @Scene @Tafty

I must be the only person not on board with this. I mean I don't hate it but I don't get the huge love for it either. It might well grow on me, and I hope it does tbh.

Yeah, I'm with Mango.

I like this on first couple of listens, but I didn't find it as stunning as some appear to.

It's certainly better and more appealing than The Giver though

Another date that is so far away from it's release! lol

However, I really think this has the potential to just keep building and building well into Quarter 4 tbh.

Made even more bizarre by the fact this was performed live before 'The Giver' was released (well before it was performed on SNL, actually [which was, in turn, an age before 'The Giver' got released]), coupled with how frontloaded that was!

Chappell said it took ages to get the recorded version of this right, so that could explain why there's such a long wait maybe?

Either way, I adore this. It was worth the wait. Chappell literally hasn't missed with anything post-covid* for me! (I'm not a fan of her pre-2020 stuff tbh)

* Not including demos, as they're obviously not finished! I didn't really care for 'Fix It In The Morning' - very clearly an insanely early stage demo (it's like 1 verse and a chorus, iirc)

Likewise although have only listened once and it definitely has the vibe of a song that'll be a grower. But The Giver was more instant for me.

I feel like we weren't ever meant to get this as a recorded single, I think the reception from her performing it on tour maybe made her change her mind? I think like Juranamo mentioned, she just wasn't happy with how it translated on record, she probably still isn't but she's giving the people what they want 😂

Its such an emotionally charged song, like you've really got to watch per perform it to get a full understanding of that so I get why she had her reservations. I think if you're not feeling this and haven't watched videos of it from her tour you definitely should then go back to the single version 🩷

I will watch the live version. This version sounds like a lullaby. I dont love it.

The Giver i did not like one bit, think I had 2 listens

This is the song of the year for me and its been on repeat all day. It is just euphoria to the ears, the dopamine rush at the end. I havent attached to a song like this in ages (well abracadabra) lol

Gorgeous video for a gorgeous song.

That shot at the end as she starts belting in the fountain is heart breaking </3

Love the video! Feels so strange watching an actual music video by her though lol

I like how the "she's got away part" doesn't feel like it drags on at all, like a lot of songs do when something is repeated for a long time towards the end.

It Must Have Been Love and Alanis were my first thoughts too, so not surprised to see them both mentioned in here. This is stunning and stands out so much in the current musical climate. The clarity in her voice and the raw emotion in the final chorus really shows off what a vocallist she is.

I think the song itself is very Olivia Rodrigo, like basically Drivers License Part 2, but her quality vocals and lyricism makes it her own. I don't still think this is her best, more like 4th best single to date (after the big three GLB, PPC and HTG).

The lyrics and the storytelling in the song are incredible

the video is also visually incredible and adds to the story in the song

I was floored by the ending and I have no idea why. It's just the same line repeated over and over for a third of the song!

Agreed. It’s really powerful and going from “She’s Got Away” to “She Got Away” is like her chasing and then suddenly realising that they have got away is so simple but absolutely stunning and devastating.

The final fountain scenes in the music video really took my breath away just coz it comes off so sincere and heartbreaking.

I can’t get enough of this song tbh!

This is very Rina - Hold The Girl coded for me but I definitely agree with Roxette and Alanis too, this is leaps and bounds ahead of The Giver which was kind of awful when all was said and done. I wasn’t sure how it might translate to studio after the live hit so hard and we had it for a long time but it’s absolutely a home run for me, obsessed.

Oh I thought she was alternating between “she’s got a way” and “she got away” lol. unsure
