Posted Yesterday at 09:441 day M is for Miss Independent.'Miss Independent' was the title of a #6 single each by Kelly Clarkson and Ne-Yo during the 00s. Kelly was first to release her track, in August 2003, as her "proper" introduction as a popstar. The song, which tells the story of an independent woman finally allowing herself to let down her guard and fall in love, was first pitched to Destiny's Child and Christina Aguilera before fortunately landing in Kelly's lap. The song was a big success, hitting the top 10 in the US and also became her first UK hit. Ne-Yo's 'Miss Independent' was released almost exactly 5 years on from Kelly's, in the summer of 2008, and served as the follow-up to Ne-Yo's second UK #1, 'Closer' from his third album Year of the Gentleman. The music video has amassed over 600 million views on YouTube, compared to Kelly's very low 16 million! But which is your favourite Miss Independent?Soundclash: Noughties Namesakes history:A is for All I Ever Wanted (Basshunter vs Kelly Clarkson)B is for Baby Boy (Big Brovaz vs Beyoncé & Sean Paul)C is for Call My Name (Prince vs Charlotte Church)D is for Don't Tell Me (Madonna vs Avril Lavigne)E is for Emergency (Paramore vs Jordin Sparks)F is for Free Me (Emma Bunton vs Joss Stone)G is for Gravity (Sara Bareilles vs Pixie Lott)H is for Hey Baby (DJ Otzi vs No Doubt)I is for I Turn To You (Christina Aguilera vs Melanie C)J is for Jump (Girls Aloud vs Madonna)K is for Kids (Robbie Williams & Kylie Minogue vs MGMT)L is for Lately (Samantha Mumba vs Lisa Scott-Lee)
Yesterday at 09:491 day Team Kelly on this one!Quite fiery and Christina Aguilera-esque so not surprised that it was originally intended for Stripped.
Yesterday at 09:541 day I actually really like that Ne-Yo song, so that!Kelly's is enjoyable to a point but completely inessential.
