Good point, I wonder if it's because the album has a strong narrative, like a film, so people are more likely to keep coming back to it (in full) to understand more about the story and where each song fits the narrative. It's the first album I've listened to front to back multiple times in the first week for a while.

I wonder if we will start to see more linear story/narrative type albums in the wake of Lily's success. In fact, I don't wonder, I know we will, because that's how the music industry works. I just hope we don't see a load of forced and underwhelming/shoehorned in story albums from artists who weren't originally going to go down that path.

Very much this for me. Album feels like an experience that needs to be listened to in whole and in order. Not sure I would want to cherry pick songs and listen to them outside of the album, unlike most other albums which don’t have a start to finish narrative.

On the flip side, I think that does restrict how well any one song can do on its own. Nothing on the album sounds like a standalone hit. For example, I don’t think I would like pussy palace as much if I wasn’t familiar with everything leading up to the reveal in that song. Obviously the songs are doing well, but nothing I could see wracking the numbers to have a long chart life after the album hype calms down.

Hopefully when all the main playlists of streaming services update tonight Lily will see a bunch of more support *_*
