January 4Jan 4 You know a Madonna release is inessential when it finishes quite low down even in a ranking on BuzzJack x'Thinking Out Loud' is my first major loss so far, granted it's a song I probably don't ever need to hear again but overplay notwithstanding I still think it's a very good and timeless sounding song from Ed (and it was quite a moment hearing it live when he came out as a surprise guest at the Eras Tour x). His later attempts to recreate it have not aged quite as well.We stan the frogs as well obvz
January 4Jan 4 I dislike Rockin' as a song pretty much whoever sings it but that version is undoubtedly the worst of the worst.Good to see a few of the bad'uns leaving in a row.
January 4Jan 4 Thinking Out Loud is great, way better than this position.Relistening to everything for this rank these past few weeks has made me realise how quickly thank u, next has aged. I used to like it a lot but didn't feel moved to put it in my top 20. Love We All Stand Together <3
January 4Jan 4 Yeah 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' doesn't do much for me sadly.'Thinking Out Loud' still holds up as one of Ed's better tracks despite the overplay.'Victims' was next in my list to point. My least fave of that run of singles but still a great song and for a slower song at that which I dont recall them really doing much of.That cover of 'Rockin..' is naff but harmless fun for me lol. It's the version I most knew growing up aside from just hearing Brenda's in Home Alone. Would say Bieber's is the worser one by far.

They recorded this cover of “Especially For You” which had been the Christmas #1 for Kylie and Jason exactly 10 years before. The track featured Steps on backing vocals, and was the official Children In Need single for 1998. This version doesn’t do a lot that the original doesn’t and it’s obvious that Denise is by far the better singer.Absolutely awful.

What a fun and cute track it is though. The Donkey Sanctuary would have been horrified by this clack charting.

Bing sings the traditional song "Little Drummer Boy" while David sings an original song written by the show's team called "Peace On Earth". The original intention was for both to sing "Little Drummer Boy" together but David disliked the song and wished to sing something else, resulting in "Peace On Earth" being written. 5 years after Bing's death, the duet was finally released as a single. It climbed into the top 3 for Christmas 1982, making it Bing's joint highest-charting single in the UK alongside the previously mentioned "Isle Of Innisfree". It has become a firm festive favourite despite only charting once since its original run.
January 4Jan 4 One of the great Xmas songs, brilliant!Scream and shout was an essential song on my uni soundtrack but I seldom listen to it anymore out of choice.

Rex Inspired by T. Rex's "Hot Love", "Coz I Luv You" was the single that cemented Slade as one of the most successful acts of the 70s in the UK. Initially the group felt the song was too soft so added hand claps and foot stomps to make it more "Slade-ish". It was the first of their many songs to use a misspelt title, and first of their 6 number one hits. It spent 4 weeks at the top before spending 3 weeks at number 3 across the festive period. Despite its success the group weren't very keen on the song, calling it "a pile of sh*t" and being surprised when it hit the top, but I think it's one of their best efforts!

The live performance was released as a single in November with proceeds going towards multiple charities. It reached number 1 in both the UK and US, and ended up as Christmas number 3 in the UK.
January 4Jan 4 Today I learnt that 'Peace On Earth / Little Drummer Boy' was a posthumous release (for Bing)! (Though I do wonder what prompted them to wait 5 years to release it...)
January 4Jan 4 Listened to Bing & Bowie a couple of times over Christmas and realised I should have given it a few more points. A goodun

Drake"Have you not heard? It was my understanding that everyone had heard..." A number 4 hit in the US in 1964, this bizarre surf rock song is a medley of two songs by R&B group The Rivingtons, "The Bird's The Word" and "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow". The Trashmen noticed the similarities between the two songs and played them back to back at their gigs, recording a single version after it won a battle of the bands competition. 45 years later, it became a running joke in the hit animated sitcom Family Guy, in which it is the favourite song of leading man Peter Griffin, leading to a huge resurgence in popularity and it charting for the first time in the UK in 2009. A Facebook group hoped to push it to number 1 for Christmas 2010 as an X Factor protest, however it did not make nearly as much of a buzz as Rage Against The Machine the previous year and could only manage number 3.

January 4Jan 4 I’m not a Slade fan but “Coz I Love You” is awesome.“Surfin’ Bird” was a great off the wall Christmas #3 moment.
