That's quite clever the way that Zara Larsson has bundled up "Lush Life" with "Midnight Sun" on Spotify, as a new release 2 track single. I've not seen it done that way before with a newish track and an old one.

It's not really that new like every time Jade released her new one last year all the previous singles were tacked onto the single EP 😅 and if know others do it too

Yeah, even Steps did this too for their What the Future Holds singles. The difference here being that this a viral song aiding a newer less known track exposing it to more people.

Another difference being that ‘Lush Life’ is a comparatively very old track.

Ophelia seems significantly up from last week and didn’t ship vinyl this week if I’m aware

So guess she’ll avoid ACR lol

She’s not the only one up… and looking at Spotify, so many songs are up on last week. Loads of songs will escape DCL-2 this week.

Such a positive start to the year! Last week with all those classics back and Landslide finally being a top 40 hit. Djo getting a deserved No1. Now this week, 2 brilliant new songs for 2026 already in I just might and Midnight sun. Also enjoying that Choosin Texas too.

I can’t help but root for older acts who have the odds stacked against them and give it their all for a number one. It’s just nice to see some good old grafting and hunger for it.

Im the same, i love seeing older acts doing well as they have to work so much harder for it and i do enjoy seeing acts grafting to get as high in the charts as possible.

Not sure that will be enough for Blue to stay at #1 but they'll almost definitely be top 2 which is still a very impressive outcome for them either way! Wonder what prompted them to push this album so much harder than the last few.

Looking back, the previous Dry Cleaning album was only #8 in the first mids with 2,662 sales, ending the week at #11 on 5,342 sales (only 34 away from the top 10 </3) The new album has started a good bit better than that, based on last week's sales the bar for the top 10 might be a little bit higher than it was on that week but hopefully they can still manage it, they should only need to sell about another 1.8k tops for the rest of the week.

Random observation: I thought it seemed familiar that Zach Bryan and Zara Larsson had new entries in the same week (as I remember commenting on it being a probably rare occurrence of two artists beginning with Z debuting in the same week) and, sure enough, Zara's last new top 40 hit 'On My Love' also made its top 40 debut in the same week as Zach's 'I Remember Everything'!

Zayn's record label clearly missed a trick by not releasing this week!

I didn't even realise that Blue had released another album. I was fully expecting Zach Bryan to be #1 in the album mids.

Blue will probably need to do about 17k to secure the #1 and overcome their streaming deficit vs. Olivia. If they're going to be safe for #1, it depends how many additional copies they can shift at signings as I'm sure their sales are extremely frontloaded.

I feel like their 2022 campaign was a bit muted. I guess with Five back and Boyzone, Take That and Westlife all putting on some big shows this year, there's a bit of a positive atmosphere around the boybands of that era.

Honestly this! So many artists really go for it with signings, shows, variants etc., - the album chart is more exciting than the singles charts and allows artists that don’t trouble the singles chart to get a hit album (even if they do only hang around for 1-2 weeks).

It’s their 25th anniversary and they have a tour to sell.

I personally don't have an issue with any act who wants to push several variants or whatever.

I don't know of the wider impact but there's always a slim chance that they might be picking up sales from people who may have not otherwise considered it. Not many, perhaps, but it all adds up.

I'm all for artists doing everything they can to get the best positions possible, im just against the double standards of people reacting to it depending on artists 🤣

Welcome to Buzzjack - male artists are generally hated, Taylor gets dragged for the number of variants while others get applauded.

Oh i know only been here 10 plus years 🤣🤣🤣

I loved 'Haven't Found You Yet' from the last album era. I haven't even heard anything from this one yet, but I might give the singles a go.

Also maybe variants weren't quite as prevalent when they released their last album, and having realised they can play the game now so many acts are doing it?

It does feel like something that is more of a recent thing, especially with big anniversary releases.
